Willie Young wants out of Chicago, he'd be our best pass rusher on the edge until Lawrence returns.

Potential DE's without Lawrence & Gregory.....

- T. Crawford (prefer him on the interior...but can play LDE)
- Mayowa (seemingly a potential sub-package rush specialist)
- J. Crawford (4 sacks as a reserve while seeing time at DT, LDE & RDE)
- Tapper (team believes he has traits to play RDE as well...solid size & among the combine standouts at the DE position)
- Irving (outstanding size/athleticism...posted 4.84 40, 38" vertical & 10'8" broad jump at 6-7/273 lbs.)
- Russell & Boatright (both need to make a leap forward to enter the equation)

While it's not optimal...Marinelli has gotten career year production from a few JAG's.

Yeah, that's probably it.

Tapper and J. Crawford will get a lot of snaps as reserves.

true. mine as well go with what we have. Getting Collins allows us to playing Irving on the edge alot more now because he can come in for either Crawford or Thornton.

Not sure that adding someone else's least wanted DE left off their 53-man does anything for us.

Give me one proven pass rusher from the edge who isn't theoretically/potentially good... and "proven" compared to the guys we've got isn't a high bar... I have to think there's a slot for someone like that if someone springs free for some reason. Ryan Russell, you seem to be the man on that bubble.

That doesn't surprise me. Mincey's little hold-out last pre-season and then give the team 0 sacks... I'm sure that didn't go over well.

In addition Mincey was the senior guy on the DL, and it sounds like he didn't provide a lot of leadership with Hardy acting like a loose-cannon.

There are a couple technical questions such as the medication that "caught-him" possibly being a prescription for his post-back surgery recovery.

Well Jerry and son don't really seem worry. Even tho they wanted Ogbah in the 2nd they didn't panic and take another DE.

And the guy they got in the 4th round isn't far off in potential from Ogbah IMO.

I'd sign Jason Jones and wait for the Lawrence and Gregory to complete their 4 game suspensions.

Jerry ruled out Jason Jones as well.

I think Jones & possibly Mincey become the obvious choices to bring in, both as potential starter(s) and as vet depth & leadership.

Both were ruled out by Jerry.
