he's at 5.5 sacks now compared to 2 sacks for ware...and will probably hit 12 or 13...ware probably will be right around 8 again...i dont think there will be any argument that we should have drafted merriman..he is a beast...teams are worried about him and they account for him like they do for roy williams...just think if we had two players like that on our team! bad move jerrah...should have drafted the better passrusher...he is a game changer while ware is just a good player...merriman will be great if he is not already...and i dont want to hear about this zimmer bend but dont break defense...i see ware rushing ALOT AND HE JUST CANT GET THERE...BOTTOM LINE

how foolish of you, and you call yourself a dallas fan? everyone knows it's not ware's fault...it's the way we use him and the other things we ask him to do that are more important than rushing the QB.

Fine Merrriman is better. GReatest guy to ever play OLB. But at the end of the season, when we finish with a bettter record, better Def, and a SB Ring, Merriman still would be the loser

i watch a lot of games, and i havent watched any chargers games so i cant really say who is better.. but whenever i see ware hes doing the same dumb move, speed rush around the tackle.. and by the time he gets close to the QB since hes taken the longest possible route, the QB has gotten rid of it

Yeah...he's really torn it up since the three sacks against the raiders.

But you are probably right, considering they play the raiders 2 times per year.

I think if you look at the opponents that san diego plays this year.

you can chill out real quick.

they are both good players. without a doubt.

san diego just has easily ne of the easiest schedules in the NFL. without a doubt.

Hell, if you watch film Merriman has a sizeable advantage with having both Jammal Williams and Luis Castillon on the team. Both are the rare 3-4 players that can play 2 Gap responsibility and pressure the QB.

Ferguson has played well, but he's there just to stop the run. He doesn't command nearly the attention that Williams gets.

so what? we played the Texans where sacking Carr is like expected atleast 7 times in every game. ware couldnt even reach him.

YOU ARE RITE STSTINAZ!

Question: given that your assessment is correct, what should we do about it? Should we kill ourselves now or should we make ourselves suffer through constantly whining about something that can't be changed and then kill ourselves for the mistake your perceive? Or should we just require that Jerry kills himself for the decision you didn't like?

I agree, but I try not to point this out because it makes me look like a homer. I don't debate that Merriman is a very good player, but he is at a tremendous advantage because of: Schedule - the Oakland line is worse than AZ's which makes them the most pathetic ever. Not to mention Art Shell's play calling in that game. Take that patsy opponent away and Merriman has .5 sacks more than Ware. And 1 less TD as well. woo woo go him.

Further, Castillo and Olshansky (when Healthy) are terrifyingly good. San Diego far and away has the best 3 dl in the 3-4.

well when you send only two people out on routes, and hold everyone in to block, that usually happens

Both guys are fine players.

Based on hype and numbers, most would go with Merriman.

I will not throw one player under the bus just to prop up "my" guy.

I just wish I could project how Ware would do in San Diego.

Yeah, I expected this one to come up. Watch the two games if you can. Oakland played the entire day with 7 step drops and blocking Merriman with a RB. Seriously. Every sack. He would be a bust if he DIDN'T get those sacks.

On the other hand, the Texans spent the day in max protect with 6 or more blockers. And Ware still got pressure, though some don't want to believe that, while going against the offensive tackles.

Just because both suck doesn't mean that we are comparing apples to apples. The Texans were very intent on protecting Carr on sunday.

But if you all feel like crowning Merriman a God and Ware a bust, by all means, feel free.

are you saying thats what the Texans did? because you know you are wrong if you are saying that. the texans did not just have Moulds and Johnson running routes and have 9 men blocking lmao

Okay...I didnt quite get this one :p: .

I like Flav, he makes me laugh.

These threads sometimes make me laugh.

Or...just consider it some crazy random drive by pic posting that has nothing to do with the topic at hand.

I say we hijack the thread.

Like...when will WVU play a real team and show that they are inflating their stats and really aren't that great a team?
