Long-term?

I doubt Jerry or our idiot fans have the patience for that. You'd have to endure some bare times, like Pitt did with Cowher, because you're not getting another Landry run. So, just give me the best coach for the moment. One who can keep the team running well, who is proven to be competent, who might provide a spark. After it's gone, give me someone else. I don't care who he coached before, or who he tells us stories about.

You're getting right at the heart of the matter imo. The question is whether or not Jerry can be an owner to hire a long term coach or if the latest coaching gizmo that hits the market will entice him to periodically change course.

Whether Garrett hets hired as HC or not doesn't answer the question. Rather, it is, if Garrett or someone else is hired, will it be for the present only or also for the future?

I'd personally like to see some HC continuity return to Dallas. But maybe I'm just being nostalgic.

I'd say three years for Wade. Less if he brings home a trophy...

I'd bet that Jerry was pretty upfront to him about this as well. It gives Wade a chance to ride off into the sunset a champ, if he can take the team to the next level.

I see Phillips as the head coach, 4 years tops. If Garrett shows enough during his "training" (sorry couldn't think of a better word) then he's going to be the long term hire after Wade.

Garrett will never be the HC of the Dallas Cowboys.

He's never called a single game as Dallas' OC.

As far as Wade goes...he's not Bill, but we don't have much of a choice.

IMHO, he's one and done.
