This has been discussed before, and I don't mean to bash a former Cowboy, but I don't like his announing much either. I prefer Phil Simms by a wide margin. I thought Simms gave a dissertation about the horse-collar rule on Thanksgiving, while guys like Joe Buck and Troy spew the same old tired stuff.

I admire Aikman's ability to resist his own personal biases towards his Boys. Trult neutral, unlike Joe Gibb's *****, Joe Theismann.

It has always seemed to me that he has shied away from talking about his time with the Cowboys. I think he feels that he won't be taken seriously if he talks them up or god forbid root for them.

While Johnston I feel embraces the Cowboy heritage and is proud to tell you he played for the team.

Troy always seems to get upset with Buck when he brings up his time with the Boys, he always changes the subject or will talk about something else not even acknowledging the statement.

Maybe he suffered to many concussions and doesn't remember playing for the Boys who knows?

It's more plausible that Troy watches enough football to hear these other former NFL players go on and on about their ex teams, their past exploits and their "I know it all" attitude and he doesn't want to go there.

Aikman ALWAYS has to balance a good comment about the Boys with a negative comment.

Really I don't think he's worried about showing the Cowboy bias I just believe Aikman is a "glass half empty" kind of guy. Just pessimistic by nature. It comes through in his announcing whether it's a Cowboy game or not.

I actually agreed with Aikman at the moment. The way Reeves plays, and if you are "a Cowboys fan" as Aikman is you know how good he is, Glenn being healthy was more important than a single play.
