Troy agreed with Mike and Mad Dog that the Cowboys may collapse now, or at least step back. Said Dallas could go 16-0 and it wouldn't mean a thing because we worked so hard to get to 13-3 and a 1st rd bye and then blew it, that you do not comeback from that, you don't just b ounce back from that. Said a meaningless regular season can take it's toll on a team over a full season.

They also all laughed at Jerry paying JG as much as Wade and that asst coaches and coaches were upset at him making this kinda money.

Great. :bang2:

Let it go, brother.

It was one game. Dallas is young and inexperienced but they have talent and can improve. If anything, their lack of success will be the driving force that propels them to greater achievement.

Anything Troy has to say to the NY media is for the benefit of a biased audience. Troy's not dumb.

As I recall didn't Denver lose in the first round a few years ago as the #1 seed and rebound to win a couple of SBs?

Yup, and Aikman brought that up yesterday on his spot w/ the Ticket.

You're right he isn't dumb he so happens to be best friends with the o.c.of the dallas cowboys . Hmmm maybe he's on to something here about romo not being able to overcome this defeat. He also happens to be best friends with wade wilson who's romo's qb coach.

After going 14-2 and 1 and done in the playoffs, the Chargers are in the AFCCG now.

What did he say that was so outlandish? I'm sure the Saints, Bears, Eagles and Ravens fans were sitting here last year sure that they were going to be back this year competing for a title. I'm sure Dan Marino thought he was going to several more chances for a ring after he lost in 1984. Not every team has multiple chances. We just flushed an opportunity down the toilet, and there's no law that says we're going to get another one.

*cough* you left out the Chargers

In all fairness, the 2007 Chargers nearly imploded. What kept them together was strong leadership in the clubhouse. This team was so divided they were ready to commit mutiny against Turner. To their credit they turned it around.

What we do not know is what kind of leadership this Dallas team has. Hopefully, they can ride out these tough times and prevail.

I think the team will let this hang over them for a while and frankly they should. They need to remember how bad they felt after this loss so they (at least the leaders/star players) can use it as motivation to come back bigger and better then last season. Romo used the bad snap to motivate him to get better, work harder, study more and he and players like TO, Witten, Barber, James, Ware, Ratliff and others will do the same thing.

Aikman is and will always be a Cowboy fan. When he talks on the Dallas media, he clearly shows his love for our team. When he's talking to the national audience, he's doing so as part of his Fox anchor persona and straddles the line so as not to appear bias towards the Cowboys.

I also do believe Aikman tends to see the glass has half empty while many of us see it as half full. Meaning, we've got a great young QB who will only mature and become even better, the best WR & TE in the NFL, a hungry RB in MBIII and a pretty decent OL which does need to improve. Hopefully our defense in it's second season in Phillips 34 will also get better.

We won't get better though if Jerry Jones don't add some necessary players either in FA and/or in the draft. We must add a speedy WR who can complement TO; best way is in FA (maybe Bryant Johnson from the Cards or Roy Williams if he becomes available). Given TO's age, we probably should also draft another WR. We also gotta draft a good speedy RB to team up with MBIII and very important to add a good young CB, maybe even 2. Would also like to see a good ILB brought in who can play the run and is very good in coverage. Tired of all those passes over the middle.

Wouldn't be surprised if we don't bring back Flozel Adams. He's a good LT but he turns 33 in May and doubt we can afford him when the money to keep him could bring us a good FA WR or a good CB & maybe a vet ILB who can play the 34 and brings intensity/fire, maturity, leadership which our defense desperately needs.

Wow, this wouldn't be the cowboyszone without a "I hate Troy Aikman" debate. Freaking dumb.

Was wondering what took so long.

Except of course, when they do, Troy.

Not exactly the most astute analysis from Aikman, that is if he was quoted correctly by our paranoid friend. Given the OP's preternaturally gloomy outlook that has to be brought into question before we vilify Troy for talking out of both sides of his mouth.

according to the OP, He said that Aikman said that teams that go 13-3 and lose in their first playoff games "do not come back from that, do not just bounce back from that"

While there are historical examples that may back up what Aikman allegedly said, there are also historical examples (ala 1996 Broncos) that counter Aikman's alleged statement.

Hardly a concrete theory. In fact a foolish one really.

Like the Chargers this year after going 14-2 and losing first round?

Why did I both responding to a ScottCase post? :bang2:

You mean like when the Dolphish lost to the COWBOYS in Super Bowl VI...then went on to have a perfect season the next year and win Super Bowl VII????

Like that????

13-2-1 Niners in '87 got CRUSHED by the Cinderella Vikings, and then WON THE SUPER BOWL the year after.

I BELIEVE the '89 Giants were 13-3(or they may have been 12-4, not sure), but they went one and done against the lightweight Rams, and then WON THE SUPER BOWL that year. I remember Parcells was on the HOT SEAT after that playoff blow.

You mentioned the '96 Broncos.

Sure, some don't come back(but for various reasons-i.e. the '01 Bears didn't bounce back b/c they had an injury-prone 50 year old QB), but there's no rule that EVERYONE doesn't.

I'm going to assume that comment was directed at Troy. Otherwise, you may have misread my post.

Completely agree. He could be right, or he could be dead wrong. There are cases for both sides of the argument. Jeez people, settle down.

Last years disastrous ending was supposed to get us focused and determined for this season. It didnt. Well not for the whole season anyways.

Maybe the transition of new HC and OC and DC etc... made this team forget/seperate last years bad memories. Like it happened years ago instead of last year? who knows?

All I know is... if we arent making statements in the playoffs next year... then the year after will look less promising. We need to shore up some key positions and instill more youth on this team sprinkled with seasoned vets.

And I end if with a cliche "there is always next year"
