Exactly. People keep saying the team is going to 'learn' from this. What exactly are they learning? That you can't make a lot of mistakes once you get to the playoffs and expect to win? Why couldn't they have learned this last year.

Yep.

You would think that after last year... even with the BYE this year... that this team would have been salivating like a junkyard dog. Just waiting to tear apart any team in the way of our goal.

Instead... we got a kitten for someone's sig on CowboysZone

Instead we got a sideshow of nonsense leading up to the playoff game.

Maybe the transition of new HC and OC and DC etc... made this team forget/seperate last years bad memories. Like it happened years ago instead of last year? who knows?

All I know is... if we arent making statements in the playoffs next year... then the year after will look less promising. We need to shore up some key positions and instill more youth on this team sprinkled with seasoned vets.

And I end if with a cliche "there is always next year"

It did, The 2006 team was putrid.

The 2007 team was a 10-6 to 11-5 team yet they finished 13-3. They did learn something but obvioulsy it wasn't enough. Maybe, what they learned in 2007, can help them in 2008!

In addition, anyone who believed that the 2007 team should win the division is still waiting for Peter Pan to fly them off to Neverland.

I suppose we could curl into a fetal position and be all doom and gloom about next season. Sounds pretty productive.

Or, and this just may be a crazy idea (silly me), we could actually hope(and it's not an unrealistic one) the team learns from their mistakes and has better postseason success next year.

This isn't 1967. We didn't lose to friggin Lombardi's multiple Championship winning team loaded with hall of famers in the Championship this year. There's some dignity in that. We lost to a completely mediocre Giants team, who will probably get blown out by 3+ TD's on Sunday, in the first playoff game in a disgusting, gutless fashion. There is no comparison, no matter how badly you want to shoehorn one in there to make yourself feel better.

What's wrong with the kitten? It's cute!

You and I may have been salivating like dogs but that's us. These guys have other interests besides football. It's just a job.

You and I don't salivate about tomorrow's departmental meeting or annual budget, do we?

They'll be back....

Or maybe the fans will have to be the one to set the tone that losing in the first round is comletely unacceptable, since the coach wants to hang an Elite 8 banner from the rafters. When you watch the Patriots there is a chip on their shoulder, a sense of urgency, an all around angry attitude that you don't see with this team. It's rather stunning considering they're the ones with the undefeated record and the three superbowl rings on their fingers. This team better start to develop it, or else we'll find ourself in the same situation next year sitting here trying to convince ourselves that everything will changes if we just replace the 3rd CB.

Do you think Jerry thinks this is acceptable, do you really? Nobody is saying that losing in the second round is acceptable. Do you think the players think it's acceptable?

Also, I'm not sure how fans "setting the tone" will make the team play better. It's something that is going to happen or it won't.

I wouldnt say putrid. We were close alot of the time with that team.

I agree that last years debacle helped for about the first 12 games or so. Then we went to sleep.

Many people on here... including myself thought we could win the division. I also saw a 11-5 or 12-4 record. So I think you are wrong there.

I am a cat person :D

Yes I was salivating. I couldnt come down from my psychout from the monday before. I was ready to hit someone or something.

I disagree somewhat. It is a job for them. But they could STILL have that mentality... and yet they didnt and I dont think it was because they treated it like a job... I think it was because they just didnt get it.

Me and my father were watching Terminator 3 and when Arnold said "She'll be back" - he got a chuckle out of the "he" to "she" LOL

Anyone who thinks the only thing separating the Pats from us is a little attitude is off their rocker. They only have first round picks and great players everywhere you look, not the mention the quarterback of the last 10 years and maybe one of the better coaches ever.

Yeah, they're better than us, like they are better than every other team. Like Windward said, does that make us completely worthless? Some of us don't think so.

BTW, I think we should fire Hudson Houck. Did you hear how many times he talked about what a good team we had as demonstrated by the 13-3 record?

Colts bounced back from losing the playoffs after a 14-2 season and went on to win the SB.

So did the 13-3 Denver Broncos in 1997, the 15-1 Pittsburgh Steelers in 2005 and the 14-2 San Diego Chargers in 2007 (who are now playing for the AFC Championship).

Troy agreed with Mike and Mad Dog that the Cowboys may collapse now, or at least step back.
And Romo won't recover from that bobbled snap.

I, for one, don't quite understand why it has to be one or the other?

Did the team disappoint us all by choking? Yeah. They disappointed themselves too. They got beat by a team that they were better than. They got beat because Dallas played stupid and undisciplined, and the Giants didn't. They got beat because the Giants played with more emotion and more urgency. And we can keep reliving that over and over again...

But it doesn't mean that the entire season was a failure. This team made strides from last year. The team is better than they were a year ago. They still have plenty of work to do, but the arrow really is pointing up...

And besides, what good would it do everyone to be all "doom and gloom"? You want to tell your players that none of it mattered. You want to tell them that the regular season isn't that important, and then expect them to play hard for you every snap of next season.

Things aren't so bad.

Well, the WFAN studios are probably 1,500 miles from Valley Ranch so they should have their thumb on the pulse of what will happen there.

If Jerry had let Garrett go the media would be all over him saying "how can he let him go and the whole coaching staff is in shambles, blah, blah, blah!" Now they are on him because he supposedly overpaid.

I think it was important to keep offensive continuity for Romo, TO, etc. With Houck back and Garrett to run the whole show the O will be better and I look for a more punishing in your face running game to go along with the already nice passing attack. Garrett is going to get better as he grows as an O-coordinator. Worth every penny.

If this season reminds me of one it is the 1991 Cowboys. We beat the undefeated (to that point) Commanders that year finished 11-5, I believe, and after beating Chicago in Chicago in the wild card, we laid a major egg against a Detroit team we were probably better than. We needed another year of seasoning and a few tweaks. We got it and the tweaks we needed and we all know what happened the next year.

I feel that a bitter loss can make a team never want that feeling again and give them motivation they need to take the next step.

The loss against the Giants was horrible on so many levels. I think a lot of us have numbed ourselves to a point where we don't actually realize how bad it really was.
