Troy spoke briefly about the potential of Ray Lewis on the team and about Dan Reeves being brought on as a consultant.

Paraphrasing here, but basically Troy said that it's never a good sign when a consultant is brought in. It's usually a sign that the coach is having issues and needs assistance. He said he wouldn't mind being the consultant...little to no responsibilities and receive a nice paycheck.

If a guy like Dan Reeves is brought in, he needs to be a head coach or else it's screaming that there is little to no confidence in Wade.

If this was already posted, please delete mods.

He is, but his opinions on the same issues change with the wind.

I saw a clip on laufenbergs show from the aikman irvin interview last week. Aikman was asked about phillips and if he is the right guy for this group.

and he responded with a smirk on his face about how he believes the coach of this team should be someone who can stand in front of the room and command respect, there should be no doubting or debating.

So to see him say he thinks consultants are bad fits right in.

and I agree, if any member of your staff needs a consultant, remove him with someone who doesnt.

and if reeves is here to help manage or self scout that is then a different issue. I am very curious to find out what reeves is going to be doing. I have a bad feeling that theogt is right and he is here to babysit garrett and I have a feeling that will end bad. That makes a guy on shaky ground look even more shaky to the players.

I cant wait to here jerry's breakdown of reeves responsibilities and then wades version of it.

Wow.
We finally agree on something.

Aikman is right. This is just another patch job by Jerry.

He will never learn.
And we will continue to pay.

An absolute joke this franchise is right now.

2006 - Fumble.
2007 - Choke.
Disorder - Disorder.

So what do you think is going on? Part of me thinks that this hire is just another one of Jerry Jones' ploys to PR his way to over-hype for the 2009 season. Then another part of me believes Dan Reeves when he says he won't just take a job to just have one but will if real changes are implemented. And that gives me real hope for real improvement, until the first side of me kicks back with fear that Jery Jones just sold Dan Reeves a bottle of snake oil.

If Reeves is brought here for the right reasons and with the right intentions, then I think he can truly benefit this team, particularly the oofense, as Reeves can teach the offensive coordiantor how to be an offensive cocrdinator, or can take over the job if the student keeps failing. I think reeves can also help with the draft, as the team is in desperate need of young, home-grown oofensive talent.

And Reeves can even help Phillips with his head coaching duties - effectively letting Garrett keep the title of Assistant Head Coach, but otherwise actually do the job for him; which would benefit Phillips most. And should wade need to be dismised of his head coaching duties for any reason, then Reeves can slide right in.

Yes there are many good reasons to hire Reeves so long as it's done with the right intentions on Jerry's part. But that's the part I'm most unsure of.

Two fold.

Get Garrett an offensive mentor.

And then have a backup plan if both Wade and Garrett are stinking it up to begin the 2009 season.

Jerry still thinks the talent here is worthy of big things.

So be brings in a guy who gets very familiar with the Romo and he also how the organization works.

It's a little creepy that Wade is maybe pushing for someone who may eventually take his job.

Here's the audio on this...

Aikman talks Ray Lewis and Dan Reeves

He talks about Lewis coming in first.

I agree Lewis has something left in the tank.

And I with Theebs. What is the title of this position going to be for Reeves and how are Jerry and Wade going to differ in how they describe the addition.

A lot of good it did us taking his advice on coaching hires.

So he is a stupid man then? lol.

And you weren't complaining about his choice in 2007 right?

I just don't believe that Reeves is here to somehow take Wade's job. I honestly don't think Reeves would come if that were the case.

I don't think he's here to baby-sit Garrett either. In fact, my hunch is that if anyone is in line to replace Wade, it's still Garrett, last year's drama notwithstanding.

I think Reeves is coming aboard to be another football guy. I think he's going to get a check for doing a lot of things Ron Wolf would do for the Packers, for what Fairbanks would do for Parcells, for what Lacewell has always done for Jerry. I don't think he's coming to be the big bad disciplinarian, coach Xs and Os, or make sure drills are being run right. I think he's just a guy to help out the franchise.

Would you take Michael Jackson too if he could play?

When we hired Garrett? Yeah, I was actually. I didn't see why Sparano was getting a demotion.

you have always been consistent in not liking garret.

You have said things like a monkey can run this offense.

I have a different opinion and I actually think the same could be said of spagnolo. If you have strahan, tuck, osi, robbins and kiawanuka you should have one fearsome defense. He has been up and down like garrett, except the run in the postseason.

That is why I giggle at people hating on garrett and tripping over themselves on spagnolo.

But back to the point, I really hope reeves isnt here to babysit garrett, that will just cause more locker room drama because it will weaken an already weak image the players have of him.

Then why did he interview for the 49ers Off Cor job?

Ron Wolf was never a head coach. He was always a personell guy.

But I could Reeves as just getting back in the game here in a hefty role so he can become a head coach somewhere in 2010.

True, but if it translates to better game plans, they'll fall right in line. Winning breeds good chemistry. :)

I never said T.O. doesn't have anything left in the tank.

He's still a very good player.

But his time in Dallas has run it's course because he's a drama queen who can't shut his fat trap or stay away from a camera for more than a few weeks.

I dont think Michael Jackson is in the NFL anymore.
