With two weeks to go, the leaders remain the same in the three major Aikman categories, although the margins are slim in two of them.
The Cowboys and Patriots, the NFL’s two 12-2 teams, remain 1-2 in the Aikman Combined, with Dallas leading by 0.7 points, 0.1 less than last week.
The surprising Titans are a clear third, fueled by a substantial lead in offensive red-zone performance, one of seven categories used by STATS to calculate the Aikman's.
The Falcons have opened up a margin of 2.9 points in Aikman Offense, providing a good argument for those contending that QB Matt Ryan should be the NFL’s MVP. The Saints rose from 5th to 3rd with their big day in Arizona that followed two substandard performances.
The Ravens are atop the Aikman Defense Ratings for the fourth consecutive week, but the Giants have closed to 0.3 and are in 2nd. The Giants have risen from 72.5 after Week 9 (8th place) to their current 77.5. Even though New York clearly has one of the NFL’s better defenses based on the eyeball test and points allowed, the NFL’s yards-only method still lists the Giants as 15th.
