2000s. 2010s. 2020s. It doesn’t matter which decade we’re talking about. Aikman goes on a dynasty run in any decade. He had the intangibles any good leader has. He is a true general and would have embarrassed Mahomes!!!!

Put him in his prime in any decade with the teams we had and you get the same results. Dynasty!

Aikman wouldn't tolerate the lack of commitment present on every level of this organization from GM down.

In 1994 Aikman complained to Jerry Jones that Switzer's practices lacked intensity.

In this era of football, Aikman would have bolted from the Cowboys the first chance he got.

Troy Aikman had a singular goal. He wanted to win as many championships as possible for the team he was playing for during the length of his career. Period.

That goal is entirely incompatible with the 21st century version of the Dallas Cowboys.

Ridiculous to think Aikman or any other QB would win a SB the past 30 years. He won 3 with a team that had the triplets, all HOFers. He had the Great Wall of offensive linemen. He had Doomsday 2. He struggled mightily as a young QB. He struggled mightily after Irvin was gone, and then Emmitt. Aikman is a well deserved Hall of Fame QB, but one man doesn’t win a SB. The Cowboys wouldn’t be a contender this season even with Aikman in his prime. Be realistic.

It's a different game at the QB position now. Aikman was a razaor sharp passer, disciplined leader and passionate about winning. But he was not a mobile QB; he was a statue in the pocket that took too many hits, even with a great OL. The game was already changing around him in the later years to favor QBs who can move in the pocket, if not be another RB on the field. With few exceptions, pure pocket passers have long been obsolete.

People seem to forget that when the OL play started to breakdown, both Aikman and Emmitt got booed.

The triplets and the Great Wall against today’s teams. It’s too hard to say if they would’ve been as dominant. But I’ll tell you one thing, if Jimmy Johnson was the HC, that’d dang sure made a big difference.

As defenses would be forced to back off due to respect of Troy's arm, and this receiving corp, Emmitt would have 3000 yd A season right now.

Not w/ this clusterfudge of a Defense.

And the most important thing, the #1 D in the NFL.

Troy with the same teams as Romo and Dak? I doubt it. I think he would have won more playoff games but he wouldn’t have won a ring under this version of Jerry and son assembling rosters.

I think Aikman (in his prime) would have won some Super Bowls during the Romo years. Those were mostly competitive games, and obviously we wouldn't see kicker snap fumbles, or interceptions as much. Parcells mentioned how much the snap fumble crushed him because he didn't view the Bears as a strong opponent in their next round. The Dak Years, maybe the first seasons when Zeke was still great. I just know he wouldn't come out so slow in many of these games. Comes down to offensive line too. Both Romo and Dak can scramble better than Aikman, but Aikman also wouldn't be afraid to get in a young lineman's face and tell him to get his crap together. Don't really ever see any of that from Romo or Dak.

The guy who would tear the %*#$# out of the NFL in today's rules though is Staubach. Athletic, runs fast, has the arm, had very few of the benefits today's QBs have. Staubach was made for today's NFL when just about every franchise QB drafted gets a couple hundred yards rushing.

I think it is sad what happened to him during his rookie season. Coming out of UCLA he was somewhat of a mobile QB. Similar to Elway. His rookie year pretty much took that from him and he still retired as one of the best to ever play.

Football is as much about avoiding the negative plays as anything. Troy may have been the best of all time at that.

THIS 100%!!! ^^^

:hammer: :hammer:

Aikman would rip modern day defenses to shreds, especially with all the rule changes. Rare in the older NFL that a rookie QB would have success their first year. The game and defenses took time for them to learn.

Aikman almost got killed by the defenses at that time and horrible team play. Now rookie QBs come in every year and play well. Different league with easier defenses and rules.
