Aikman would win multiple superbowls in this era of football on the Cowboys

I truly don’t understand the hate Aikman gets on this site. It’s weird. 3 time Super Bowl champion, first ballot HOFer and a great leader on the field and an exceptional representative off the field. What exactly are some fans looking for?

No Aikman no rings.

The drought would be 40 or so years, maybe fifty. Some fans act like he’s a blemish on the Cowboy brand.

2000s. 2010s. 2020s. It doesn’t matter which decade we’re talking about. Aikman goes on a dynasty run in any decade. He had the intangibles any good leader has. He is a true general and would have embarrassed Mahomes!!!!

Put him in his prime in any decade with the teams we had and you get the same results. Dynasty!

Aikman would rip modern day defenses to shreds, especially with all the rule changes. Rare in the older NFL that a rookie QB would have success their first year. The game and defenses took time for them to learn.

Aikman almost got killed by the defenses at that time and horrible team play. Now rookie QBs come in every year and play well. Different league with easier defenses and rules.
Only rookie QBs who can scramble.

What hate? He was a great QB, but he wasn't particularly mobile.

Aikman would be building shelfs for so many Super Bowl wins. We lack coaching and new ownership.

People compare Troy’s numbers (which look small by today’s standards) to Dak’s inflated passing stats.

But they ignore:

The 1990s NFL was run-heavy, defensive, and brutal.

Cornerbacks could hit receivers, linebackers could destroy QBs, and offenses weren’t designed to inflate stats.

QBs today throw 150–200 more passes per season.

Troy was playing chess in a knife-fight era. Dak plays in a KD-rated toddler playroom compared to that.

Aikman in the playoffs:

11–5 record

3 Super Bowls

0 fumbles in all 3 Super Bowls

1 INT across all Super Bowls

Super Bowl MVP

68% completion in postseason

Dak in the playoffs:

2–5

1-and-done most years

Multi-turnover elimination games

Collapses under pressure (SF, GB, LA, etc.)

Troy was clutch. Dak is comfortable… until pressure shows up.

Aikman might win a Super bowl in this era but Roger staubach would completely dominate it.

Roger played in an era where the quarterback was basically a punching bag and a tackling dummy there was no protection.

Receivers could be flat out abused and if you look at those games just being able to complete a pass under those conditions was about a miracle compared to what it is now with the new rules.

Back in those times Roger staubach was feared by every opponent as long as there was any time on the clock because of what he was capable of doing with his arm and his legs

Roger would put the team on his back in a moment's notice and run the ball to move the sticks.

He was a competitor without equal who would absolutely destroy this talent diluted prima donna based pansy *** League we watch now.

He was the real deal the guy who elevated his whole team and made everyone play above their heads.
He thrived on pressure the polar opposite of what we have now.

It's absolutely mind-blowing. It has to be some kind of Dak (and Romo) defense... either that or they didn't see his prime.

Even the OP who was praising him mentions leadership, as if that was Troy's greatest strength. No, his greatest strength was being a big, durable bad-a with a great, incredibly accurate arm. Without that the intangibles don't matter.

With the way all the rules favor offenses and protect QBs now? Troy would absolutely light up this league.

Look at who the posters are that try to knock Aikman down. Should clear everything up pretty quickly.

As long as he had Emmitt, Irvin, the beast of an offensive line and those defenses.

And Prescott would have at least two rings if he played for Kansas City Chiefs

I agree he wasn’t mobile. The hate I am referring to is some fans devalue Aikman’s accomplishments by saying he was a product of the team around him.
That’s how I feel about all quarterbacks. Their a product of the franchise.
It takes an entire organization to win a championship

Aikman wasn’t carried.
He was the precision, the calm, the efficiency, and the leadership that glued everything together.

Super Bowl numbers?

70%+ completions
No turnovers
Clutch, perfect football
3 rings in 4 years

That’s not “carried.”
That’s elite execution under pressure, the thing Dak has never shown in 10 years.

Dak has had #1 offenses, #1 O-lines, #1 WRs, top defenses… no NFC Championship appearances.

If being surrounded by talent = automatic success,
Dak would have three rings by now.
