Man, how stories and destinies change.

There's nothing like playing free and easy, riding a 4-game win streak without your two most expensive players in uniform. Dez and Romo are on ice, while the Bengals are down 28-0 and screaming at each other on the sidelines. Those boys hadn't been punched in the mouth like that in a good while. Did Geno Atkins even play? I don't recall.

Meanwhile up yonder in the southern suburbs of the North Pole, there's a bunch of blank stares and head-scratchin' going on, don'cha know. Pass protection is good, but Rodgers isn't finding plays down the field like normal. The Packer offense is stuck in 2nd gear, and nobody really knows why or what to do.

Now Lacy is ailing, or he ate a practice squad player. Nobody's really sure. Randall Cobb is seeing stars from an ugly hit, and Jordy Nelson is still shaking off the bubble wrap after a year's hiatus from injury. Questions without good answers abound.

Both defenses are doing fine, but only one was actually supposed to. Who are these masked men donning Cowboys uniforms? I know they can't be the same guys as last year. Rod Marinelli can't be that good, can he?

When the schedule dropped in the spring, our eyes grabbed on to a few "uh-oh" games. Cincy was one, but the two loudest were @ Green Bay and @ Pittsburgh. The stomach acid started rising in our throats. Too many nightmares have played out in those neighborhoods for our liking.

Yet suddenly, without warning, this picture has changed. Roles have reversed in Lambeau. Pittsburgh will have to wait for now.

Sunday's game inexplicably became simple and straight forward. The Cowboys get to just do what they do, with no real pressure to outperform themselves to have a chance. The Packers, however, have to find themselves, and fast, or they're going to be down two games to the Vikings, which already beat them once.

The psychology of this game isn't what it was six weeks ago.

Packer fans aren't feeling optimistic based on their No.1 defensive ranking against the run. They know they haven't seen the likes of this meat grinder. Zeke and the boys are primed, and the Cincy front seven is better than what the Packers roll out.

And if the Cowboys can play Nelson as well as they've played Beckham, Jackson, Jeffrey, and Green, then who exactly is Rodgers going to throw the ball to that scares anyone? And a second week of that same pass rush Dalton saw would go ahead and render this game all but over right now.

Green Bay can forget about a Dak and Zeke rookie freakout. Prescott's taken teams to Alabama and won with lesser talent, and Zeke did things in college that make this place just another city park. I don't think they even know or care much about the lores of Lambeau. Nerves are not nervous, and cold, it won't be.

No Dez, no matter. No Romo, no frets. No real advantage for Green Bay that I can see. This team is loose and relaxed, and can't wait to play. The Packers, not so much. They weren't ready to be this concerned about this game.

Who'd have ever thought?

Dallas 27, Green Bay 20.

Speaking of players Lacy may have eaten, I heard James Starks was missing from practice on Wed...

Seriously? Both of them.

That would be interesting. Who else do they have?

Pass protection is good, but Rodgers isn't finding plays down the field like normal. The Packer offense is stuck in 2nd gear, and nobody really knows why or what to do.

So many ways to slice and dice Rodgers play -- as you said its really hard to definitively figure out what is going on. His completion % and YPA are terrible, however, he's on pace for 44 TDs (36 Passing, 8 Rushing) and ranked 4th in the NFL in ESPN's QBR rating. His ability to run for 1st downs bails their passing offense out of a lot of jams.

Rodger's game last week against the Giants was a macrocosm of the Packer's struggles overall. He threw 2 TD passes, had a 3rd called back on a penalty, had a 4th go off his WR's hands in the end-zone, and his 5th redzone scenario had Jordy Nelson let a pass skip off of his hands for INT.

My $0.02 is that Rodgers is definitely struggling, however, this also looks to the worst talent he's been surrounded with in terms of WR and TEs in his career. The two combined, make for a very ugly offense.

If we see the same team show up like last Sunday we are going to smash them in the mouth and really make this a statement game.

Aaron Rodgers has been been Aaron Rodgers like in his past 15 games.
Norm Hitzges was talking about this on his show this morning.

Was asking if Rodgers is just getting / playing older then he is. Said how many times he runs, like 60 rushes a year opposed to Tony's highest runs were 35 in an early year.
Also in like the last 157 games he has been sacked 334 times. Not counting the hits he has taken.

I just think the talent around him has gotten older and less. His offensive line has improved, but his receiving corps is a shadow of what it was. Plus, he doesn't have a good tight end to rely on.

What's funny is this was supposed to be the ultimate test for Dak. Based on what you wrote, though, I can already see people sliding those honors to the Eagles should the Cowboys win.

Seriously? Both of them.

That would be interesting. Who else do they have?

Cobb and some other receiver (Montgomery?) are apparently the rest of their RB depth.

Is it true that the Bengals have a better front 7 than the Packers? I don't know too much about the Bengals but we made them look pretty bad.
