ive kind of been a singleton supporter, he did make a play on a pass last night
but when i looked at the stats from last nights game on nfl.com
http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/live/NFL_20050919_WAS@DAL

i was sure surprised to see that he isnt even listed as making a tackle or
having an assist. how can you play LB in the 3-4 and not even have 1 tackle
or assist ???

Nors....you may have been right about Al S. this year.

Also, i know Roy W. is a great player. I love what he does and I know
he brings more to the defense other than just statistical factors, but when
you look at the game stats and see he only had 1 tackle and 1 assist
you just have to conclude that he didnt have his best game.

i am listing the stats that i copied and pasted from the link above for those
of you who dont want to go look for yourselves.
I am not saying its gloom and doom time...just looking at some numbers.

DEFENSE
T-A SCK INT FF
D. Nguyen 7-1 1.0 0 0
T. Newman 5-0 0.0 1 0
K. Davis 3-1 0.0 0 0
J. Ferguson 3-1 0.0 0 0
A. Henry 3-4 0.0 0 0
S. Shanle 3-1 1.0 0 0
G. Ellis 2-1 0.5 0 0
B. Pierce 2-0 0.0 0 0
D. Ware 2-2 0.0 0 0
C. Canty 1-1 1.0 0 0
K. Coleman 1-2 0.0 0 0
T. Copper 1-0 0.0 0 0
A. Glenn 1-0 0.0 0 0
L. Glover 1-1 0.0 0 0
B. James 1-2 0.0 0 0
N. Jones 1-0 0.0 0 0
J. Reeves 1-0 0.0 0 0
M. Spears 1-1 0.5 0 0
R. Williams 1-2 1.0 0 0

the fact is we just didnt close out the game when we had the chance, for lots of reasons . ( all of which have already been posted somewhere here at least once )

Now...lets get ready for the 49'ers. its a marathon, not a sprint.

The stats listed at the Gamecenter are not accurate. Check the Gamebook. Roy had two tackles, two assists, a sack, a forced fumble and a pass defended. Until the two late touchdown passes he had a hand in allowing, he had a great game. The Commanders' running backs weren't exactly breaking into our secondary very often, and the TD passes were the first two passes completed anywhere near Roy this season. So he hasn't had a ton of chances to make tackles. Still, he is making plays.

I agree, Al Singleton is messing up, not playing like he should, not sure what u guys think, but here is what i think says about some of dallas cowboy players, forgot which player had hit Burnell, they were rolling on ground, bradie james was coming up, he pulled up halfway stopping, then the ball popped out, if bradie james had gown full out, when brunell fumbled, james might have gotten the ball. Thats my point, players like him, dont go out, even he stated that if they needed him on special teams, he would, he said they would be allright, no big deal, thats my point, they dont bust their butt, just like Flozell, he has all talent in world to dominate a guy, half time he does pretty good, then other time, its like his head isnt in it, or heart, just like on that extra point attempt, he tried then, but was too late. So, i challenge the character of the team, the deep desire to win, dominate your opponent, what do u guys think?

He's always been invisible out there. Not a playmaker. Not stout against the run and he had a few consecutive plays where he whiffed on surefire tackles. He also looked slow to me last night.

We have to get Shanle, Burnett, Fujita more reps and phase Als out. He's not a 3-4 backer is the final icepick in his back.

Shanle - that kid is a football player. Relentless pursuit on the sack and he puts his helmet in there. Liked Fujita's size out there 6-5 will cause passing lane problems.

Fujita didn't record any tackles either, let's get rid of him too.

Keith Davis only had one assist all night, where art thou Lynn Scott?

I just re-watched the game and Singleton was in on at least 3 tackles and had a pass break up as well.

But let's not let facts get in the way.

Singleton only got credit for one pass defensed, but Fujita played relief for him and recorded no stats. Could it be the position he's playing? Is it possible a linebacker on that side typically doesn't get alot of runs in their direction and Brunell being a left hander throws naturally to the opposite side that Singleton and Fujita play?

Hmmm.

I'd like more production out of that spot as well, but what did Portis have? 51 yards rushing on a 3.1 ypc average? I'd really think this team could find other things to worry about.

Shanle? People keep bringing his name up, but there must be some major hole in his game since BP hasn't even practiced him out there.

Hopefully, Fujita gets up to speed.

I still think playing a scheme that emphasizes playmaking LBers should, you know, actually have some playmaking LBers, but maybe that is just me.

That makes sense. We all want improvement in all areas, but that takes time. New schemes, new players. That takes time to gel. I am surprised at just how well it is actually coming together, but it clearly isn't hitting on all cylinders yet. There will be a time when Al is eventually replaced and becomes a good back up. Some were wanting him cut before training camp even started. That didn't make any sense. There was no one ready to step into the position. There was a good reason for trading for Fujita. He is better qualified to eventually replace Singleton than Shanle. Altough I hated the loss, it is good watching the defense improving and growing. The future is looking bright on that side of the ball.

Singleton is beyond slow. BP should've kept Burnett on his side so we know his replacement is on the roster at least.

The guy makes no plays. NONE! I can't remember the last time I said "nice play Singleton".

I think the most glarin, overlooked ano obvious fact about the Dallas linebackers is that Dat Nguyen is just too small to play in the 3-4.
