If Alan Branch falls to #22, has a chip on his shoulder about it, wouldn't it be great to pick him up and enhance his development by working him into the rotation as slowly as he needs??

He has an attitude problem and is dumber than a box of rocks

doesn't that equal "nasty attitude" and "bullish at the point of attack"?

I don't know where the attitude problem idea comes from, but Branch came off as soft in interviews, so that scouts are questioning whether he has the intensity to exceed in the NFL

That would be a great pick at that point. He'd be a beast at the NT. That's one position where you don't care what the guy's wonderlic was. :D

Man Branch is so big that if he has a chip on his shoulder he'll smell it and eat it (mmm...BBQ chips). Then what do we get? A fat lazy DT who wears down in games.

Not sure about chip on his shoulder, but the lack of work in his ethic is what scares me.

Where people are getting the work ethic thing from is a mystery. He came across as passive in his interviews and THR says that he sometimes wears dwon at the end of games.

He plays all out in games.

I have to agree.

I may be the only person here who watched every single Michigan game this past season and Branch did not wear down during the course of a game.

1 or 2 so-called "experts" say he looked out of shape and everyone all of a sudden questions his work ethic?

The man has been described as the biggest and most athletic NT in the college football... sure he might bust, but so can Calvin Johnson.

Another thing...

I saw the name Gabe Watson thrown around for a comparison.

In no way, shape or form is the accurate.

Watson was a RUN stopping DT, he wasnt anywhere near the threat Branch was when it came to getting after the QB.

So whoever might have the same feelings as these "experts," who are probably SEC reporters anyway, :p stop believing this.

I'm with you, man.

Branch at #22 would be a great pick. :starspin

I'm only hoping the message about his poor work habits/motivation get around so that he drops to us; hopefully it's not true and Ireland/Jones/Phillips don't buy into it cause they know better. We may be set at every position but we certainly need to add backup players who can take over/challenge some of our starters. NT is a major concern. Ferguson
s is 32 and although he played well in 06 he's needs a backup/eventual successor and Branch would solve that problem. But doubt Branch will slide down to us.

NO WAY. All branch had to do was stay away from Desert, stay in shape and be polite and steady in interviews; and he is a top 10 pick. AT LEAST.
INSTEAD he got out of shape and blew off his interviews. Its just a few months from the bowl games to the draft. The guy COULD NOT EVEN hold it together that long- even though he was looking at MILLIONS of dollars in the difference in where he was drafted. GABE WATSON part deux, on his way to being WIllie Blade, part deux.

If he's as dumb and lazy and John Henderson supposedly was when he fell in the draft, I'll take him in a second.

I agree. All is this testing is great but what matters is how you play the game and Branch was an outstanding player and anyone who is going to base his talent on testing is really missing the boat or did not watch the kid play. All of this testing is a tool nothing more and should not be treated as some crystal ball into the future of any player.

I'd be nervous to take Branch in the top 10... but at 22 it's a no-brainer.

ANYONE we're picking at 22 is going to be a gamble... just look at all the WRs people have us projected to pick. Not one of them is anywhere near a sure-thing.

Branch fills a true need, and if he has his head straight, his physical tools are difficult to ignore.
