It was an ugly injury to see happen. After reading the description of the injury, I thought Ok, he'll probably walk again but...Modern medicine is amazing.
People want to think all injuries are just alike but they aren't. You have special insight into your injury and that is appreciated, but you have no clue about his.Wow, I find it hard to believe that Smith has been okayed to continue to play football. I personally sustained an injury close to what Smith's injury was and I ended up getting my leg broke the first time I was hit. It was really disheartening because it took me numerous surgeries, a year and a half in a cast and another year and a half in a full metal leg brace before I could walk again. I like Alex Smith and I want to see him succeed, but I have this bad feeling he's being setup to fail. Those are BIG BOYS in the NFL and they're out looking to create damage on every play.
Happy for him.Modern medicine is amazing.
I'm reminded of Jeff Goldblum from Jurassic Park. "You were so concerned if you could, that you never asked if you should."
I've got nothing but respect for Alex Smith, the dude has dealt with no shortage of adversity in the NFL and always toughed it though. Patrick Mahomes wanting to give him a Super Bowl ring speaks volumes. After Mahomes walked off the field a Super Bowl MVP and gave KC its first title in 50 years, the absolute last person anyone was thinking about was Alex Smith, and Mahomes thanked him anyway. If Smith comes back from a shattered leg to play another game, it'd be the ultimate capper, the biggest challenge Smith has overcome in a career full of them.
But really - Alex Smith is in his late 30s. He doesn't have much football ahead of him, but he's got plenty of life still to go. Don't go out and risk your health even more for a garbage fire Washington team that doesn't take care of its players.
