All in all it was a pretty good draft

Probably not what most of us expected initially, but all in all, it was pretty good.

I like the news that our offense is becoming primarily a two tight end set. That is going to create a lot of mismatches and give our offense a lot of opportunities.

Having Fasano is so much better than having a fullback, because not only do you have to watch out for his block, but you have to assign him coverage as well. And teams that are running the 4-3 will have even more trouble with this.

Bledsoe essentially gets a 7 man offensive line as well. So worries about our offensive line not being good enough almost go out the window. You can either have both tight end block, have one block, or have both act as receivers... its a pretty dangerous combination. Especially when both are receiving tight ends who are going to work over safeties and linebackers.

You really can't blitz this offense. You have to account for the speed we have at receiver (which makes drafting skyler green so important, apparently he was the hardest receiver to cover during the combine). But You have to double T.O. Then you have Glenn, Witten, and now Fasano all open with single coverage. Witten and Fasano will both take a linebacker out of the equation. Which means 4-3 teams will have at most one linebacker to blitz. And then there is still Julius Jones...

Getting Bobby Carpenter completed our defense. We'll be a top 5 d this year as long as well stay healthy.

I agree with your post in theory, and I didn't "hate" our draft either. I don't expect Fasano to run away from any LB in the league. He has great hands, but very slow, even for a LB position.

Most scouts praise his speed, elusivity, and hands...

He doesn't need to be a speed demon at all. I mean he is still a tight end. he still creates a mismatch.

Losing Keyshawn Johnson, makes it so much more important to have gotten him. He'll help us move the chains.

The dude is a Tight End version of Keyshawn Johnson. But he is by no means slow. He just isn't fast.

I agree ... I keep saying rd 1 & 2 are definite upgrades
OLB in 1 (over Singleton)
TE in 2 (over Polite)

Great depth and rotation in 3,4,5,6, and a possible future starter in 3,5,6
