I'd take it. Love it actually.

One of the best "what if" scenarios I've seen.

As of right now Dallas has 4.9mil in cap room. Dallas cant make these trades unless they work out deals with these guys at the time of trade with new deals in place. Because as of right now Sherman has a 11mil cap hit for the team trading for him, The prorated SB money is taken out as his total hit is 14mil+ but that prorated stays with SEA. Richardson has no Prorated left so his cap hit is 8mil for the team. So unless Dallas has 19mil as time of trade they cant trade for them unless they work out new deals for these two players which isnt going to get done is the 5mins that Dallas is on the clock.

I think thats why posters are using the madden reference to your mock.

Again, I said that the assumption was that the team would create the necessary cap room. Teams have talks before they actually make the trades. There are conversations going on right now that might not go anywhere or they are working up to a trade. Sherman has two years left on his deal and his 2017 cap number can be brought down to $6M without Sherman losing a penny. Your acting as if Stephen Jones is all by himself. The Cowboys have multiple people; salary cap experts, personnel people, Jerry, Will McClay, Jason Garrett, etc. who could be working the phones, dealing with agents, negotiating and restructuring deals.

I said right away that this is not what I think is going to happen. I am saying it is doable.

Chris you don't have to defend yourself. It was bad a#$ mock. One that you stated from the beginning you didn't think would happen.

Mocks are all for fun and entertainment, and yours was fun.

Swap the first pick for Willis or Basham and the Schuster pick for Kupp or Westbrook and I'd be excited for that haul
As I've said elsewhere, I hate Sherman more than anyone but we are idiots if we can get him for anything less than a first and we don't do it.

OK, that first sentence alone would draw alot of them jabs from posters, because S JOnes has said they arent going to do that atleast 3 times this yr. And i dont think they have the guys available to get that money. Tyron, Frederick and Romo were the source of most of the cap space they could get. So that punches holes in your post aswell.

Ill just leave you with those thoughts, because youre not really dealing in realistic thinking but rather wishing. What ur proposing isnt going to happen. I think Richardson could be brought in when Romos June 1 designation goes into effect.

Okay, before everyone gets upset. This is not what I think will happen. This is just a mock that assumes a few things:
  • The Cowboys believe they are close to contending and are a few defensive players away.
  • The team will make the necessary adjustments (exercise Jason WItten's $4 million, restructure players, sign incoming players to extensions lowering their 1st year cap #, etc.)
  • Rumors about teams wanting to trade these veterans are true.
Also, I used CBS Sports rankings for the picks for the Cowboys.

Day One
1(28) Traded to the San Francisco 49ers, who want to jump back into the 1st round to get their QB.
  • Cowboys send the 28th pick to San Francisco for the 34th pick and the 109th pick.
Day Two
2a(34) T.J Watt DE 6-4/252 Wisconsin

2b(60) Traded to the Seattle Seahawks for Pro Bowl cornerback Richard Sherman
  • Cowboys send the 60th pick and a conditional 2018 pick to Seattle for Richard Sherman CB and the 210th pick.

3(92) JuJu Smith-Schuster WR 6-1/215 USC

Day Three

4a(109) Justin Evans S 6-0/199 Texas A&M

4b(133) Traded to the NY Jets for defensive lineman Sheldon Richardson

6a(210) Aaron Jones RB 5-9/208 UTEP

Okay, Flame On!

Richardson Sherman's salary is 11.4M for 2017 and 11M for 2018. If the Cowboys wanted to pay that type of money, they likely would have pursued a free agent CB.

Richardson's salary for 2017 is 8M. A 1-year rental for 4th round pick with an 8M salary is not unreasonable, but they could have signed Bennie Logan for 1-year 8M and it would not have required a draft pick or psychiatrist.

The chances of Sherman coming to Dallas are 1/31. So we can think about it and have fun trying to make it happen but it's one of those let's see what happens. One week to go and we will have our new 7 draft choices. One a side note on who we think Dallas should draft. With the top 27 picks r gone we can pick anybody that we want. So basically I know next week some of us will bash the picks but they will pick who they feel will help them the most. Pick 28 could be DB White or DL Basem. What I am tryn to say is that we have to see this play out and take who is avaiablr. Who we can pick and who we want and who is avsiable all will play a part.

For the record. I would love WR Davies dropping to us!!!
