If he can control the penalties he’s a type of guy you do want on defense. Every good defense has at least one crazy guy.

Unfortunately, Dallas already has Sam Williams so that would make two. Not great odds.

Marist is out of control at times, but he is physical and has a knack of creating turnovers. Zimmer said last season, he was one of the most intelligent young backers he has had, why not give him some snaps at the Mike. When he had to fill in late last season, he did play well as the starter.

Jalen Smith made lots of tackles too, but until some of those tackles start coming near the line of scrimmage instead of 9-15 yards down field, there’s nothing to brag about.

More snaps when he is less reckless as you said. You cant make one positive play followed by a reckless play. One reckless play and it's a first down. You need a string of positive plays to make a stop. And that goes for the whole team.

He got lucky with a missed personal foul.

He’s so reckless. If he were starting, he’s the type of guy to get six or seven personal fouls or unsportsmanlike conduct calls over a season

He played 47% of the snaps last year and had 2 penalties. Goodwin had more just on ST.

He is too out of control at times, the game needs to slow down and it should happen with my experience

he has had only three I believe so far with the Boys so I do not see where that is a concern.

Just saying Marist as a knack for knocking the ball out, he is like Peanut Tillman in that ability. Yes, we have to live with some bad as well, but none of these linebackers are flawless either

There's a fine line between 'Fiery recklessness' and 'penalty liability' (as per Sam)......but I agree that having a mix of Liufau and a MLB that's disciplined and allows for others to be more 'adventurous' is what we need.

It'll be interesting to see Liufau, James and Overshown with the fall back of the MLB that holds it together.

you would have one player attacking while one stayed home
Lombardi used it as well
over the years it has pretty much fallen into disuse and also defenses do not play together for years like in those days so its hard to set it up that way
this sort of thing also needs time playing together to work

Its a sound scheme and helps players play to their strengths, but I suppose it lends itself to becoming predictable.
