Almost sounds like JJ has decided to fire Jason Garrett.

Ahh, my first thread on CowboysZone. I think I'm going to like it here...

There's a funny article on DallasCowboys.com that's talking about how Jason isn't coaching for his job. The important parts are in bold.

IRVING, Texas - Cowboys owner/general manager Jerry Jones reiterated Tuesday that Jason Garrett is not coaching for his job this weekend against Philadelphia.

In an interview with 105.3 The Fan on Tuesday morning, Jones was asked for the third time in the past month about his head coach's job security. Garrett has one game remaining in his third full season as head coach, but Jones said he won't be coaching to keep his job as the Cowboys try to reach the postseason Sunday against the Eagles.

"That’s just not right. That’s just not correct," Jones said. "I addressed that three or four weeks ago. He is not. That’s all you need to say about it."

Sunday marks the third straight year the Cowboys will play a defacto NFC East championship game during Garrett's tenure. The winner of the matchup against the Eagles will advance to the playoffs, and the loser's season will end.

Despite that, Jones said he wants his team to benefit Garrett's development as a coach. Sunday will be Garrett's 56th game in charge of the Cowboys. He is 29-26 to this point, but Jones said he has proven his ability to be an NFL head coach.

"At this time in his career, he's learning in leaps and bounds and learning every day, and I want our team to take advantage of that," Jones said.

He added: "In terms of looking at the future, his future is bright with the Cowboys."

What's that, JJ?

"At this time in his career, he's learning in leaps and bounds and learning every day, and I want our team to take advantage of that."

Take advantage of. Funny way to put that.

"In terms of looking at the future, his future is bright with the Cowboys."

Jerral just says "his future is bright with the Cowboys", not "his future as Head Coach ". In fact, not once in his entire interview does he say Jason is the HC next year. He implies multiple times that Jason will be with the Cowboys next year, he even talks about his "future", as in many years to come. But he didn't ever imply that he'll be coaching next year.

I know this is just pure speculation in my part, but something seems odd about Jerry's comments. Don't GMs/Owners, especially ones with mouths like Jerry, usually say "He's my/our guy!" or "He's a great Coach bla bla"? Not just "his future is bright"?

What could Jerry possibly mean? If not Head Coach, then what is Garrett's role in the organization in the future?

We all know that Jerry is in a serious bromantic relationship with Garrett, and there's no way he wants to fire him. We also know Jerry is getting up there in years, and he's kind of insane.

I can honestly picture it now. And it could be here as soon as next year, going off Jerry's interview. It's something so crazy, Jerry would have to try it.

Jason Garrett, General Manager of the Dallas Cowboys.

The problem is...

My love for the Cowboys dwarfs these incompetent clowns... I'd watch them even with this pathetic crew next year and still root for them, because the star, with it's mighty gravity, keeps pulling me in. I'm just expecting losing 20 years off my life.

Meh, who knows. There are a ton of built in excuses this year for Garrett that Jerry can use to keep him around another year. Its also clear it would break Jerry's heart to fire Garrett. That doesn't mean he won't eventually have to do it though.

This right here. Jerry loves JG a lot, it seems like a son.

Jerry always speaks in hyrogliphics. Trying to interpret what he is saying may be fun, but it's hopeless. Ther are times when he may as well be speaking Japanese.

If Jerry wants a new HC, but keep Garrett around, it won't be as a GM. It may be more like some kind of consultant. Jerry will always have the final say.

If that happened, it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. But I don't see it happening.

Jerra Jones is a coach killer.

He will eat the heart out of a coach. He will make coaches doubt their strength and fortitude and decisionmaking. Jerra will introduce coaches as genius and then dump them when HIS OWN moves backfire on the coach and team.

take the goggles off, Jerry isn't saying that at all. The opposite in fact: Garret is a lock for Cowboys HC next season. There is no other position with the Cowboys that would be acceptable to Garrett.

I think Jerry already knows what he's going to do. He can either just tell everyone now, or get a lot of attention later with the same information.

Also, it would seem unlikely to me for Jerry to push RHG up to GM without him having achieved some measure of success as a head coach. It also seems unlikely that Jerry would give up his real-life fantasy team to someone he's just going to tell what to do anyway.
