Exactly. This guy isn't a kid off the street anymore. He's a guy who's been to a major university where he had all kinds of people dedicated to helping him succeed. He now has an agent with a vested interest in making sure he presents himself as well as possible, an agent who undoubtedly has hired assistants so that the player only has to do a minimal amount. And apparently, he has trouble doing even that.dcfanatic;3340332 said:Yeah. Coaching.
You think they are up for teaching him the basics of football? No.
They are hoping all of that was done already while he was in high school and college.
Jason Garrett has his WR's reading coverages all the time. If he sees this kid get on the whiteboard and have no confidence on some simple play calls and adjustments it could be a reason he wants no part of him.
And when there are rumblings about him not knowing the playbook at Okla State you have to do your due dilligence on him.
The most interesting part of his Pro Day for me when was some scouts talked about him not knowing how to do the drills. That's disturbing.
When Dez hits the NFL field he isn't going to be so much more talented than the defenders that he can rely on his natural talents anymore. And don't tell me there aren't countless players who are gone from this league after a year or two because they believed that was going to be the case.
Happens in all sports. Pitchers think they throw the ball 95mph so they are instantly going to be starting in Majors for years. Until they get to Triple AAA and every 95mph fastball they throw winds up over the fence because their location is straight down the pipe every time out.
I am very interested to hear how his visit with the Pats went. I have to think they were all about his whiteboard work as well.
We know his physical gifts. All that is on film.
Now it's about him showing these teams he can be a professional and also learn their offensive systems while competing with guys who are also NFL level talent.
It's nothing personal against the kid. I hope he makes it. But if you're going to give a guy millions of dollars and lots of responsibility, he better show the ability to function like an adult. Not sure why people would think otherwise.
