Unless all the stats on NFL.com aren't updated, he currently leads NFC wide receivers in TD catches and is second in yards. Meanwhile, he ranks 22nd in the conference in catches. Crazy numbers.

He didn't go over 100 yards today. Does that count as "coming back down to earth" as so many wanted him to do?

For me, today told me as much as the other games did. He had 61 yards -- a respectable game -- and also drew about another 40 yards in pass interference penalties. He found the end zone again, didn't drop any passes, made a marvelous catch along the sideline and again illustrated just how versatile and skilled he is as a pass catcher.

What I love is that he's not someone living off one or two routes. He's working the entire field -- beating people in tight spots, making great grabs, getting off the line fast, etc.

Second in yards is pretty damn impressive for a guy who has started less than half of the games so far.

Too bad he didn't get many opportunities to turn upfield today after the catch.

If you add the two PIs to his tally today, his numbers look even better.

We will now have to start to scheme to get him 1-on-1 opportunities. I think part of the decision do do the WR end-arounds with him was to get the ball in his hands more often given his great YAC stats. It will be interesting to see if it continues.

With the way Austin and Crayton are playing, I'm thinking it would be nice to go to a modified 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 RB look as the base offense but with Bennett playing out wide and Crayton in the slot. Then we can frequently shift positions to create many different looks and still allow Crayton to lne up in the slot many times.

The pass interference in the endzone was sick route, if he wasn't interfered with it would've been a TD.

I don't know what to say about Miles, has he been this good all along?

Roy Williams is going to come up big in the latter half of the season...especially after the Skins and Eagles and even Giants have seen the film on Miles Austin twice.

Well at this point Roy needs all the help he can get just to avoid looking like a ball-and-chain attached to the offense.

I said earlier that Miles wasn't a good route runner, but he's becoming one.

Well who knows...maybe he won't be a Cowboy next year. Jerry has done crazy things before, maybe he'll try to move him for a higher pick.

I still think he's going to be just fine, though.

I always questioned his hands. I think all he ever needed was some playing time and a little tast of success to gain the confidence he was lacking. The ball is just sticking to his hands now. Right now he looks about as good as a WR can look in almost every facet.

The most telling thing right now ain't his stats but the Romo like hate he's started generating in opposing fans.
If you're a Cowboy and people don't hate you you're not doing you're job :laugh1:

I agree with you about his hands. I thought they were pretty shaky too before. However, now that we've seen him starting three games, I think it's plausible that he just didn't get enough opportunities. A young WR can have problems catching the ball consistently in games because he gets few opportunities and therefore, every catch that gets thrown to him is a big deal. It creates a lot of pressure and some guys just get nervous about that. Whereas in practice, without all that pressure, he may be catching every pass that gets thrown to him.

Now that Austin is getting lots of targets, and now that he's playing with loads of confidence, I think we'll see that Austin's hands are better than just fine.

I think what he's done, that no one is really talking about, is that he's given Romo a guy he's so confident in, as a #1 WR, that it's allowing Romo to get back to spreading the ball around and just find the open guy. He's played so well the last 3 games with Austin in the starting lineup to be his go to guy, if needed, and has allowed him to just spread the ball around.

I love that.

I'm thinking Austin has a chance to make the Pro Bowl if he keeps this up.

I wonder what the odds were on that happening at the beginning of the season. :laugh2:

not when you win by 3 touchdowns. he wasn't needed for anything more.
