Anyone notice any similarities to Wes Welker's career halfway through his season 2.

Welker's spectacular ST work kept him on Miami's roster 'til he began to break out as a third WR.

DA was as close to WW as a college player could have been after succeeding him at Texas Tech. The posters who dismissed him as a Cowboy PR and 3rd down WR should take note.

"WR Danny Amendola, STL If you do not follow the St. Louis Rams or are not in a fantasy league that rewards return yards, you may have never even heard of Amendola. The undrafted rookie out of Texas Tech has been a dynamic kick and punt returner, gaining 529 yards in just 4 games with the team. With the weak WR corps that the Rams employ, Amendola has found his way onto the field and has caught 8 passes for 68 yards in the last two games. With Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts coming into town, look for Amendola to get plenty of chances to return kicks (maybe a punt or two) and expect 4-5 catches for anywhere from 150-250 all-purpose yards."

Ballin' out of control. You can't say you didn't see this coming.

Amendola is a fringe player playing on a fringe team that has been decimated with injuries at his position.

Basically, they admit that he'll have a lot of kickoff return yardage because the Colts are going to light them up.

Actually, the Patriots already found the "next" Wes Welker, his name is Julian Edelman and he's already way better than Amendola will ever be.

Without an "average yards per return" stat, the total yards means nothing.

I like Amendola, but the best he was ever going to be was a slot (#3) receiver and we already have several of those. In fact, I think that one of the PS receivers is better than he is right now. The only difference is that the Rams suck and have nothing to lose by trying out everyone. The Cowboys are still trying to win and make it to the playoffs.

They just skipped the fact that he was signed and later cut by the Eagles. If he was such a great find then they would have kept him.

Will the ruing over Amendola ever end?

Will the ruing over Olgetree be worse when he is eventually let go?

Olgetree looked pretty good in the pre-season. Its funny, Jamaica Rector had an incredible pre-season one year (2005 or 2006?) but he didnt seem to get the interest on this board that Olgetree does.

And here I thought the gratuitous similes comparing every short white WR to Wes Welker were over.......

Would I have kept Danny Amendola over Isaiah Stanback? YUP!

I have to disagree with Reality (that is a rare occurrence for me) in that I think Amendola would be the second best slot WR on this team after Crayton.

Amendola is averaging 24 yards per kick return which is 8th amongst guys with a minimum of 15 returns. Austin is at 24.7 and Felix is at 23.0. So he isn't a liability there at least.

He ranks 4th of punt returners with 15 or more returns at 8.2 ypc. Crayton is at 8.0.

Comparatively Rossum was averaging 7 yards per punt return and 21.7 yards per kick return this year.

Which to me says perhaps if we had kept Amendola and let him return kicks we'd have a backup slot WR on game days and a slight bump at returner....

Good game... it has to be because both are white, not because they were college room mates, both played the same WR position at Tech and both returned punts at Tech, and both are more quick than fast.

I hate these threads. It's automatically sets up those of us that rooted for Amendola as chumps by those who didn't support him. Yea for you guys, you've really been justified in your hate!

He's doing well where he is now...good for him. No rue here.
