Amendola has a fumble, too. I like the kid. I was hoping Dallas could develop him, but I thought he would not be able to make an impact until at least his 3rd season. I don't think Dallas would be better off with him at this point. I think Hurd can play the slot if needed and I also would not mind seeing Austin get some snaps from the slot as well. Every Dallas receiver should see a play or two from the slot position. That is how you keep teams off balance.

Danny Amendola
4 games
6 punt returns
49 yards
8.2 avg.
14 yard long
5 fair catches
1 fumble

DUDE!!!, Your telling me Rector consistently caught the ball as well as Ogletree? Highly doubt it. Rector's only endearing quality was his speed. His negatives were size, hands, and level of college competition in college. Olgetree has size speed, and solid pass catching ability. Sorry I do not see a "definite" parallel to Rector and Olgletree.

I agree, I think Ogletree is a clear step above Amendola and Rector. I never believed in either of those guys. I think Ogletree has a chance.

Anyone notice any similarities to Wes Welker's career halfway through his season 2.

Welker's spectacular ST work kept him on Miami's roster 'til he began to break out as a third WR.

DA was as close to WW as a college player could have been after succeeding him at Texas Tech. The posters who dismissed him as a Cowboy PR and 3rd down WR should take note.

"WR Danny Amendola, STL If you do not follow the St. Louis Rams or are not in a fantasy league that rewards return yards, you may have never even heard of Amendola. The undrafted rookie out of Texas Tech has been a dynamic kick and punt returner, gaining 529 yards in just 4 games with the team. With the weak WR corps that the Rams employ, Amendola has found his way onto the field and has caught 8 passes for 68 yards in the last two games. With Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts coming into town, look for Amendola to get plenty of chances to return kicks (maybe a punt or two) and expect 4-5 catches for anywhere from 150-250 all-purpose yards."

So Amendola goes to what is probably the worst talented team in the league, after failing in three NFL cities. You or I may be able to play WR for the Rams.

Versus Welker, who was good enough to play for one team, and was sought after by one of the most talented teams in the league.

Yeah, big big similarity . . .

"Busting out" isn't exactly what I would call it.
Yet many people here thought he would "bust out" as in not be employed an NFL team.

Of course, he's nowhere near Wes Welker......

Danny Amendola (in his 2nd season):

9 receptions 76 yards
Over 16 games: 36 receptions, 304 yards

8.2 yards per punt return

24.0 yards per kick return

Wes Welker (in his 2nd season):

29 receptions, 434 yards

9.1 yards per punt return

22.6 yards per kick return

I'm not saying the guy will be or is better than Wes Welker. It's just that nobody here would have thought anything of Wes Welker before he became Wes Welker of the Patriots.

Amendola is a fringe player playing on a fringe team that has been decimated with injuries at his position.

The Armadillo has noted your skepticism, and is not amused...

I think we need an ACDL-- Anti-Caucasian Defamation League... one dedicated to ending the persistent discrimination against slow white athletes...

I mean, the PGA and PBA can only employ so many of us... or the professional billiards tour (has anybody ever seen a black pool champion on ESPN??)...

Unfortunately NFL.com doesn't have any min requirement so it was up to me to pick a breaking point or list guys with 1 return and I picked 15....

Amendola is averaging a yard more per kick return than Felix Jones and more than 2 yards more than Allen Rossum this year. Guess they are horrible....

Amendola's 8.2 punt return average is higher than Crayton and Rossum....

Rossum got cut by one team, and Crayton got benched as the returner. It's no revelation that we haven't gotten much out of our return game so far, which is why we already made a change. But thinking we'd be better off with Amendola is setting the bar pretty low, considering how poorly he has done so far.

Last season, Felix averaged 27.1 on kickoff returns, and Rossum averaged 14.9 on punts and 26.8 on kickoffs. Those are the types of numbers we need, not Amendola's measly 8.2 and 24.0.

Ok. So in summation..... Amendola still sucks. Rector has done nothing... and Olgetree is the new Amendola/Rector of this year.

Thanks.
