Amendola or Jefferson: Who do you keep (and why)?

I keep Jefferson . Crayton is best in the slot , and Jefferson could play outside when Crayton moves in . Amendola can't unseat Crayton from the slot and isn't good enough to play outside . I realize Amendola has return ability , but Pac-Man , Newman , and Crayton would all have to go down before we'd ever see it .

I see Stanback taking advantage of the situation , playing hurt , and being the 3rd receiver on the roster against Cleveland . Jefferson is probably the 4th , and Dallas doesn't carry a 5th until Hurd/Austin return . Todd Lowber makes the practice squad , and Amendola is cut .

I agree with this about keeping both.

Jefferson passing window is larger due to his size. He is still inconsistent. Had 2 drops, that fumble was bad also. After he fumbled, you can see Amendola making a diving attempt to get the loose ball. With the ball still bouncing around on the carpet, Jefferson tries to scoop it up and run instead of pouncing on the ball. :(

With Jefferson having been on the practice squad last year, he should be more consistent with less mental errors, see above fumble.

Danny seems to have a harder time getting open but catches very well when he does. I think with Tony's accuracy, the smaller passing window that Danny has in comparision to Jefferson isn't that big of a deal. Romo is go at squeezing the ball into tight spots.

Amendola has the special teams helping his cause.

Danny Amendola consistency and special teams play gets him that last spot if only one is available.

I don't think so his ST impact would be minimal at best if any at all. So when it comes to WR i think Jefferson is the better option.

Jefferson hands down. He's an actual receiver. He has the size and speed to play in the NFL. Amendola is an arena football league player. Hes small, has average speed and he blows at returning kicks.

Make the right choice Wade, make the right choice.

Your wrong here, special teams will be considered also.

Jefferson is the larger more physical WR but his inconsistency has to be considered, Amendola catches the ball consistently.

As another poster stated, Crayton's excels in the slot, that's also Amendola's better WR position. Jefferson is more of an outside WR. This might aid in helping your boy Jefferson.

Anywhoo, I still think Danny gets it.

Amendola did a decsent job on returns last night.

As of now, Amendola has more to offer (retuner, consistent at catching, better crisper routes). The window/ceiling for Jefferson might be bigger due to his physical attribrutes but we need a "now WR" to help move the chains.

How much has Jefferson played as compared to Danny? Right. So how do you conclude Jefferson is the keeper. Here's the deal. Garrett likes Amendola, his work ethic he catches more than he drops and that he picks up things quickly, so if push comes to shove Amendola gets the roster spot. Yes everyone knows I've been pullin for Danny but I also know what I see/hear from our OC.

BTW.....................how does anyone know Jefferson wouldn't be a good slot receiver?

What percentage of balls thrown at you should a receiver get? Jefferson got 3 of 5. Owens probably dropped 20 percent of his possibilities and was criticized for it. Should a new guy catch at least 90 percent? Lowber's willingness to break up Bartel's short pass moved him ahead of Jefferson for me.

Lets be truthful, many like Danny because they think he is gonna be Wes Welker and he is white.Well I for one dont care if he is purple with polka dots if he can play.Danny isnt amounting to much.Jefferson can at least run a good route and provide something for a few games.Tank was right Danny A's locker will be empty.

From what I've seen in the pre-season, Amendola has the worst hands of any receiver on this team. How many fumbles can a veteran get away with in the pre-season, let alone a fringe undrafted rookie.

Push comes to shove, Amendola can catch the ball, Jefferson can't. Two drops and a poor effort on Johnson's deep throw (it should have been caught) convinced me Jefferson is a liability.

Remember all the hate for Crayton dropping the ball and quitting on a route? Jefferson seems to make a habit of it.

I keep the guy that will catch the ball.

How many fumbles did he have? I only remember one fumble. The same number as Jefferson.

It is a tie between the two at this point. The decision will be based on who the coaches think they can get the most out of in a game plan.

How, pray tell, does one have 'the worst hands' on one's team, yet constantly get praised for catching everything that is thrown his way? And is asked to return punts? You're agenda defies common sense.

What's it going to be then, eh?

Seems to me that the "guy that will catch the ball" actually had fewer catches than Jefferson did.

Honestly I wouldnt keep either one of them, though we might not have a choice unless Jones is fibbing about not bringing in another WR

Both look like PS guys to me

David

What? JJ playing mind games...come on now...:D
Agree, both PS, but due to injuries, I have liked Jefferson better.

I'm sure that's what the coaches are going on.

Dude. You're selling DaBoyz4Life way short. There's no need to make it personal.

The comment was straight-up stupid. I'm not sure what people expect from WRs at the bottom of the training camp roster. I like both Amendola and Jefferson, but I don't understand why Jefferson gets a pass for his obvious and multiple drops. He gets open, but he's 50/50 when the ball comes out. Amendola's money baby, but he gets thrown around when the ball isn't coming to him, and he really doesn't have any high-end gear to speak of. We're really lucky to have hit on both Hurd and Austin.

I'd like to take this opportunity to say that Crayton didn't quit on that route. You can now go back to debating the relative merits of the WRs on the very bottom of our roster.

Hard to say. Jefferson appears to be quite the athlete. But Amendola has better hands and may be a better receiver right now. I'd certainly feel more comfortable with him in a real game.

I say IR Stanback and keep them both. After Austin or Hurd gets back, we can cut either and try to put them on the PS if we absolutely need another roster spot.

As far as Crayton playing outside, he does it on 2 out of 3 downs, so I don't see why he can't do it in 3-WR sets. TO, Crayton, and Amendola in the slot is the best combination we have right now.
