Both, because otherwise we are too thin. Once the established guys come back I probably keep Amendola because he has return ability.

Hostile - thats totally flawed. You keep 2 scrubs at WR and force two cuts at position of REAL NFL depth?

Return skills? He is at best THIRD string punt returner behind Pacman and Crayton. Kick Returner? At 4.7 speed and small frame he would get KILLED against 1st string NFL STers. All these guys romping around game 4 second half are JAGS and gone or close to gone.

We bring a WR in - and get Witten/Bennet/Pacman/Jones some reps split out wide - versus playing scrubs.

You start buying Amendola, Jefferson as #3 and #4 and you are back to 5-11 real fast -

Seems to me that the "guy that will catch the ball" actually had fewer catches than Jefferson did.

And your guy dropped another easy catch.

And for all, Crayton wquit on that route. I don't care what excuse he uses, I saw him quit.

And with Pacman, Jones I am talking about limited plays they can master in a week. These are football players of the highest calibre. They can do it.

Best baseball quote was Coach Francona talking about a 2nd baseman moved to outfield due to a rash of injuries. His reply was these guys are major league baseball players - most can play many other positions if need be.

We have the talent for a few weeks to cover WR woes. Its right there if we are creative.

Problem is throwing the white flag and inserting non NFL talent at problem.

Between Amendola and Jefferson, which one would you keep on the roster? Why?
if we *HAD* to keep one, I'd go with Jefferson just because having been on the PS last year, he's a bit more familiar with the playbook than Amendola.

If they bring in another WR it may still force a cut at another position.

No one is buying Amendola and Jefferson as #3 and #4 this year. They are not beating out Hurd, Austin and Stanback. They may be forced into service because of injuries to those three. Big difference and something Dallas has to deal with for a game or two to start the year.

I'd like to take this opportunity to say that Crayton didn't quit on that route. You can now go back to debating the relative merits of the WRs on the very bottom of our roster.
Hijacking the thread!! 15 yards!! Still third down. :laugh2:

If I had to keep one I keep Jefferson. Danny gets thrown around like a rag doll and he return skills are not NFL caliber. He has a lot of heart and works hard, but physically he just isn't up for it. Maybe after a year or two on the PS and working with Joe Jurczak.

I hope this does not worry you but I totally agree wit you.

Further, the kids at TTech are throwers and catchers. They is not used to physicallity like the one Amendola is having to deal wit in the NFL.

Jefferson is my pick, though both are PS types for now.

And another thing: This girlish cult of Amendola here is unnerving. Like he is a dreamy rock star and some here are fawning all over themselves.

I know. It didn't even have anything to do with the point fortdick was making. I just couldn't help myself.

Lets just keep Lowber and have him run 9 routes down the sideline like a scalded dog.

Right now I think both may make it, but in time both are going to the PS.

Amendola. He catches just about everything, but he is not as quick or fast as Welker whom he get's compared to all the time. His real 'bottom of the roster value' comes from being a special teams contributor.

Jefferson. He reminds me of Jamaica Rector. Sometimes he looks like an NFL WR and then the next play the ball shoots right through his hands.

If Jerry brings in someone from the cut pile over the weekend I think Jefferson is the odd man out.

Amendola. In the long run, I believe his physical prowess will eventually catch up with his receiving skills. Unfortunately, he's in the position now where the team may not be patient enough for him to develop into a more physically capable receiver.

I think both are PS material, but down the line, both have a decent shot to make an NFL roster (e.g., next season).

Personally, I would put Stanback on IR unless he really could make a difference this year. To replace him, I think we can get a veteran on the waiver wire in the next couple of days, or even trade for a 4th/5th WR if necessary.

But if I HAD to choose between either Amendola and Jefferson, I'd take Jefferson for a couple of games (and then put him on the PS).

If I had to choose, I'd take Jefferson. But like dbair said, I don't really like either of them.

Amendola's punt returns mean nothing... We've already got Pacman, Crayton, and Newman who can do that.

Maybe we can find a good final waiver pickup. Or just go short there for a few weeks, keep Rodney Hannah, and run a bunch of two-TE sets. I'm serious, I really like Hannah.
