Americans increasingly see legal sports betting as a bad thing for society and sports

For anyone interested in how the Draft Kings of the world operate there's a really good podcast series by Michael Lewis (the guy who wrote Moneyball, etc ) about it. It's truly gross.

True. Although the way gambling has been weaponized by apps like Draft Kings etc and how it sucks in young men is really sad and the sheer scale of it is new
That's why my wife noted about the one ad when she was watching a game with me, where if you spent $5, they'd give you a buttload of bucks to play.

It's basically luring people in because the company offering the "free money" knows the odds are in the houses favor that if people play long enough, they are going to lose that money and more and the house wins.

The irony is it's the NFL (along with other professional sports organizations) who helps move the gambling.

I'm old, really never gamble, and don't care about the point spread LOL

The way it's proliferated is so gross. It's just the latest way to extract money from people with zero regard for the massive societal and human toll it takes, in a long line behind opioids, vaping, social media, etc. It's disgusting.
Well said.

Thanks for recommendation. I like his books. I'll check it out. Didn't even realize he had a podcast.
