While listening to Sirius NFL Radio, I found the guys commenting on what Keith Brooking had to say this week. He basically said the defense is very close to where they want to be and will put it all together this week against Denver. I believe him!

Always been a fan of his, but had some doubts when we signed him due to his age. He has put all doubts to rest with his play thus far. Probably the best offseason acquisition Jerry and Wade made.

one of the better "older guy" pick ups I've seen in a while he seems like a good driving force on the defense look at the last couple games hes been fired up and *always* near the ball

Off the field we can't tell for sure but my guess is as an old vet he's got the ears of some of the young guys and hopefully they take the chance to learn everything they can from him on and off the field

Yeah...I liked the Thomas signing, but it looks like this "old guy" acquisition might be one of the best since Ritchie Anderson.

I just hope we get him some help or someone else steps up to give him so rest so that he doesn't burn himself out come years end. That's exactly what happened to Zach last year.

I don't know, Zach to me never looked that comfortable all year and I think had lost a step he could ill afford to lose.

Brooking was all over the field Monday and is clearly in his element in Wade's defense.

I'm a big time Brooking fan. I always loved him when he was in Atlanta and just wished he'd been a Cowboy. I'm thrilled to see him here and doing well.

I have to agree with a couple people and it would have been great to have him a few years earlier and he DOES need some help if for nothing more than breathers to keep him going

And Hoosier is 100% right Brooking is legit with some left in the tank Zach was on fumes when we picked him up personally I liked Zach in his prime unfortunately he was on a fairly crappy team but he was a damn good player

I'm really hoping he has enough to finish out this season strong and possibly be back for another year I don't think we have the same kind of guy with the same intensity and ability to fire up the defence waiting behind him unless we get someone after the season is over or someone steps up in a big big way to be that guy

I like Brooking & I agree with him. Except for the drive at the end of the 1st half, they played championship defense. Completely shutting down a good offense in the second half showed me that this defense is very close to becoming great.

Brooking patrolling the middle really gets me fired up. The guy is just all over the place. Love it.

I think there is a bit of revisionist history going on here. Zach Thomas was playing as stellar (and IMO more consistently) as Brooking in the first half of the season.

In fact, I thought Brooking looked completely lost against Tampa, and like James, was manhandled and out of place in the running game. But Brooking is a natural in coverage, even if he has lost a step he so smart with his drops and his angles.

I wasn't too excited about Brooking, but man has he ever been a gift from above.

Like I said earlier, I liked the Thomas signing...but that was about the extent of it. He wasn't a liability in most cases, but was damn near invisible most of the year.

...and while I agree that Brooking never showed up in Tampa, his play the last two weeks has been better than anything we saw from Thomas last year. He was outstanding last week, and his attitude seemed infectious. If he plays like that for the remainder of the season, we're far better of for it.

I believe it... They played much better last week. I hope they put a lot of pressure on Orton and shut down that so call running game of the Broncos!
