An interesting Romo quote after the Pro Bowl

Tony Romo after the Pro Bowl (quoted in a Star-telegram article): "I was trying out some stuff tonight, so I was pretty excited about some of the things that started technically to work," Romo said, declining to go into detail. "Now, I'll be able to go back to the drawing board and get better with those things."

I gotta tell ya, I love reading quotes like this. While I'm itchin to know what those technical improvements are, I'm more elated that we have a starting QB who not only talks about getting better, but also walks that walk.

I was hard on Romo coming into 2009 - not convinced he would ever grow more as a QB - but that growth, not only in his game but also in his leadership-ability, has been a nice welcomed surprise this past season.

Now I'm a Romo believer, and my hope for 2010 is that Jason Garrett can grow similarly as an offensive game-plan coordinator and gameday play-caller. While I've been hard on Garrett for his costly 2009 (and previous) failures, I also understand that he can also grow, provided he takes the first step and owns up to his own accountability, and then follows that up by working on perfecting some new coaching "mechanics" (for lack of a better word) of his own.

We'll see in due time - the 2010 season seems like a long time aways from now.

This is the exact reason why I've been behind Romo 100% since day one, and why I've failed to see how anyone can not believe in the guy.

It's obvious how much he cares about the game.

The way Romo approaches the game, I'll guarantee he wins a ring or two before it's all over. Not that many on here will disagree, but I bet amongst non-Cowboy fans, very few believe he'll get one.

I am still pissed that Diehl was letting Romo get killed out there, that **** was on purpose!!!

All I needed to see was that one play where Mario Williams blows past Diehl and plants Romo into the turf. Diehl not only didnt even try to block Mario, he then went over and helped Mario up off the ground while Romo was still face down in the turf!!!

What the **** was up with that???

Tony has definitely grown into being a true leader who is putting his heart & soul into being the best he can be.

That was definitely not cool. There are SO MANY reasons to hate the Giants it's not even funny.

Dallas' strong finish, division crown, and postseason success were obviously the highlights of '09. Beating the Eagirls THREE times was also a thing of beauty. But watching the Vagiants totally collapse after their 5-0 start was SO gratifying. 5-0 to 8-8! What a joke. Didn't hear Jacobs taking jabs at Romo (what RB does that?!) or saying much of anything by the end of the season.

The last game sucked, but '09 really did have a lot of good things happen in football - including the humiliation of the classless Giants.

Romo can say I like pizza and eat lots of it for lunch breakfast and dinner, and ill listen and agree.

Romo is one of the most dedicated QBs in the NFL, consistently attempting and saying he is trying to get better.

Wonder what those things were? Anyone got an idea?

I didn't watch the game, but from reading some comments, I think he may have had a bit more zip on the ball. Maybe a slight mechanics change?

Total shot in the dark though. :D

At one point in the game Romo was 12 of 13 and the one incompletion was the easy TD that Witten dropped.

I thought Romo was supposed to be the 2nd QB in after Rodgers but McNabb went in instead for some reason. I don't know if Romo wanted to be the last guy in so that he could play at the end of the game or what happened.

You could see Mario Williams not even trying to get to Rodgers early in the game and the same for McNabb. Even Ware jokingly swiped the ball out of Schaub's hand but didn't even go after the fumble. The AFC started rushing in earnest in the 4th quarter but the NFC O-Line wasn't blocking any more than they had been earlier in the game so Romo was suddenly getting pressure and hit while none of the other QBs had been.

The INT was caused by the DE hitting him just as he was letting it go and the pass went short and was picked off.

If that is how the guys are going to play then this should be a flag pickup game. Just select two QBs and let them pick their teams. I liked that when they used to do it and use former players as well as active ones.

in previous years, Romo has been Romo's biggest obstacle. In 2009, he focused and didn't turn the ball over like before. He played smarter...AND harder.

I'd been a harsh critic of Romo only b/c I knew he had the potential to be better than what he'd shown, good enough to learn to NOT make those mistakes. I hhope he continues to grow and get bette.

I questioned him for a while, not because of the mistakes he made on the field, but because of his non chanlant comments after the eagles game. I never had a problem with him before then. I think that is when alot of people started to wonder. He quieted my questions this year though.

You've been wrong on Romo all along. Coming late to the party and pretending the obvious improvement everyone expected to see is support for your reluctance to acknowledge the obvious is going to convince anybody here of anything.

Tony Romo is a hard worker and the only proof you need is that he gets better after each year.

Not sure why people can't or won't accept this :) .
