An Old Idea: Play Choice More

I know this isn't a new thread-someone posts it every week.

But after watching the last four weeks, I am hoping we (coaches) have reached a clear-cut decision point.

Felix is clearly not the same. Barber is playing pretty well. But our RB play just isn't where it needs to be in my opinion given the talent.

Choice is versatile and consistent. I believe he should be getting 10 carries a game especially with Felix hurt.

Do you guys think it will happen the next two weeks?

I don't think it matted, when your getting beat up front on the line then I don't care who is back there or what plays are getting called. It starts and ends with blocking we did a piss poor job of blocking the packers defenders

I'm not sure I agree with you Dooms, both Barber and Jones are not 100%, Choice should be playing more.

Isn't Choice a poor blocker ?

That is probably part of the issue.

If so, I don't see why he would be the third down back.

Maybe he should but it does not change much if you can't block the guys in front of you, we had defender in the back field run or pass and when that is happening the skill players you have become very ineffective.

He's a very good blocker and that's why he is the 3rd down back.

Felix isn't and didn't play in anything close to a pro-style system at Arkansas.

Seems obvious to me, Jason seems too interested in ego management IMO. Choice has been doing a better job in blitz pick-up as well, so I don't see that as an issue.

Choice seems to be the type of back who gets better the more he gets fed that ball. Herschel Walker was like that. If you gave him the ball five times a game, he would get ten or twelve yards. If you gave him the ball 20 times a game, he would get one hundred and ten.

He is an OK blocker from what I have seen over his short career. The 3rd down back doesnt need to be a great blocker in some systems.

This I agree with.

Seeing as how the O Line decided not to show up yesterday, you could have put Jim Brown out there in his prime and they would not have been able to run it.

Felix and Barber are clearly not healthy.

You can see sometimes Barber can't even get that leg straightened out and Felix just needs to get that brace off.

I'd play Choice more for sure. If hes healthy and the others arent then why not?

Oline has to get better at identifying blitzes from the secondary. Its hurt us all year. Major weakness.

I think we need to consider using Choice as our feature back. Barber can do what he did in college. Short yardage, goal line, and closer. We just don't get anything going in the run game by constantly switching them out. Add to that the fact that Barber still looks gimpy, and Felix is running like Julius right now, this should be the week we feature Choice like we did last year against the Steelers.

How about a poll on who thinks Choice should be featured and/or start this week.

This offense goes to another level if Choice was getting 20+ carries a game.

That's clearly what it is. Marion the Barbarian. Nice nickname. How can you sit the Barbarian? I mean, he runs so hard and is emotional and trys real hard and stuff.

He has become one of the faces of the Cowboys.

Choice proved last year that we didn't miss a beat without Barber. He deseves to play.

I agree. I've said this before. Use Barber as a pass receiving/running fullback alah Tony Richardson and Richie Anderson.

Put him and Choice in the backfield together. Let Barber block some. He's powerful enough and loves contact.

This would give us two added dimensions. One, we would have a fullback that could do more than just block and two, it gets a more explosive play maker in at tailback.

I know this isn't Madden and you cant just go moving players around, but I think Barber could excel in this type of role.
