Uxmal Collapse/Revisited

Alright guys i just finished a song that i am EXTREMELY proud of I would say its a cross between Rush and Metallica for those interested... Alright this is an INSTRUMENTAL right off the bat. But I feel i tells a story and in the following i will explain the story. First of Uxmal was a city in Ancient Mexico that was destroyed, and only really has on artifact left which is a pyramid. Though I dont know the specifics of what happened to the city, after i learned about this city, i kind of imagined how the city must of collapsed. Here you go

00:00- 1:19 The great Awareness... This is meant to be the introduction. The city has finally become aware of its opposition and they being to panic(notice the frenetic pace of this section) Ive tried to convey this through the music and not words so bear with me

1:20- 1:58 Strategic Conflict/Rally. Starts of slow as to show one man devising a plan on how to defend, as the harmony guitars come in, its meant to show the society has differing opionions on how to approach this battle. Rally beings when the distortion starts and is basically a prep for the battle.

1:59- 2:47 Never Surrender... Is the actual battle against the enemey. I used three guitars here to show the unorganization of the battle Uxmal is waging. As the two guitar harmonies progress you hear one slowly rising than dieing off, symbolizing the battle being lost

2:47- 5:29 Uxmal Revisited.. The beginning is slow and calm. After the battle things have settled and you being to realize what took place. As Revisted goes on i put in some "marching" type of drums to memorialze the ones that died

There ya go...yes i made the whole story up except for the actual city, while making the riffs up i just thought this through my head, and like day dreaming in class. Sorry no bass, and ****ty drum machine i did my best. Please tell me what you think

yea ive been getting that alot, which was incedental. I popped in 2112 for the first time in a while after being told this, and i can see the similarities in the begininng, but when the spanish solos come in, they differ alot. Anyway thanks for the listen!

Very nice!

As others have mentioned it does have a Rush feel to it.
For some reason a couple of parts also reminded me a little of savatage's later work.

One riff started out like a megadeth riff (holy war punishment due) before going into the flamenco section.

One last thing, at the end one of the riffs reminded me of some music from the movie top gun.

Over all I enjoyed it and you did a good job on the layering IMO.

On a side note.

What guitars are you using and show some pics if you have them.

I havent listened to any savatage yet, but al pitrelli is awesome with TSO. I knew the little spanish solo was gonna sound like Holy wars, so i wanted to slow it down a touch, to keep it a little different

as for pics, sorry there with a camera phone.......Les paul for the leads, Explorer for the rhythm. I recorded straight onto my computer, via usb fromy the line 6 pedal. and i used freakin acoustica beatcraft for the drums

Nice stuff.

Are you happy with your Line Six?

I got a digitech Gen3 effects board but it does not have a USB port (gen4s came out with that) and my puter does not have a slot for the memory cards.

So i am thinking about a line 6 or just upgrading to a Digitech Gen4 effects board so I can hook directly in using a USB port.

I love the line 6 man, all the computer programs tha come with it is awesome. The line 6 edit makes creating patches awesome. You just plug the line 6 in and the whole pedal comes up onthe screan and you can just edit the patches with your mouse its awesome. Also theres a website with millions of tones upload by users and you can just click on them and and they ll show up on your screen and your pedal, and you can test it out if you like it or not. I actually used a "la Villa Strangiato" tone that i downloaded for the Rhythm guitars in the song. I had a digitech RP2000 awhile it was alright, but i think the actualt sound of the line 6 is the better. Also theres a 50 doller add on called the "metal pack" Comes with like 15 or 16 different kind of metal amps, from leads to clean to rhythm amps..awesome stuff, have had it for alittle more than a year

heres the pedal on the computer, everything is in like real time, so if i turn like the volume knob down, the volume on my pedal and amp will go down, and so will the sound coming out of the amp

I might have to check into that down the road.

I need to get some new pickups first for a guitar I am having painted and maybe once I get a little extra money I might get that line 6.

haha thank you, thats one of the hardest parts of getting people to listen anything, trying to convince them its going to semi legit at least, people jsut look at most musicans and expect it to suck, i even do that haha, but ya just gotta give it a chance, and im glad you did
