Below is from bloggingtheboys.com. It's an analysis of the position and Ferguson's play last year. Also addresses need for a backup but points out (which I didn't realize/remember) that Stanley had a problem changing from the 1 gap defense he played in college to the 2 gap defense of Parcells. It seems Stanley is considered athletic enough to play the 1 gap and he's the only option behind Ferguson cause Ratliff really can't play NT too often or for long; just not suited.

Haven't heard anything about the Cowboys holding a minicamp before the April draft. Only mentioning this because 2 or more other teams will be holding minicamps later this week or next week. I guess Phillips thinks he's seen enough film to know what our players can do. Wonder what his plans are for Burnett and so many of the other guys.

After round 1 I wouldn't be shocked to see a possible NT selected at any point in the draft.

If we have a 'weak link' left on the team (as far as depth is concerned) this might be it.

If Branch is there and we pick someone like Bowe or jarrett then Ireland deserves to wear orange.

I'm not sold on Branch. At 6'5"-6'6" he is quite a bit taller than the typical NT. The few times that I watched him, he played too high and got beat in the leverage game, which at his height he can't do. His laziness and tendency to take plays off, or give up on plays quickly scares me as well.

We do need some strong ox to man the middle.

We have a strong ox to man the middle. We need a freaking backup and that's all. Not the highest rated DT in the draft.

No we need an eventual replacement. Every positon on this team needs an eventual replacement, not a back up...;)
