For his level of play, Brandon Carr was overpaid last year. It's not a secret. The Cowboys know it, the fans know it, Brandon Carr even knows it, acknowledging he didn't"finally get back into form" until near the end of the season.

But just how overpaid was he?

ESPN's Nathan Jahnke has developed a value model that takes how well a player performed and determines how much that level of play is worth against the salary capnext year.

According to Jahnke, Carr's makes him worth a $1.8 million cap hit in 2015. His current projected cap hit is $12.7 million. The $10.9 million difference is the fifth-highest in the NFL.

Before Cowboys fans get too down though, there is some good news. Jahnke ranks Giants quarterback Eli Manning No. 3.

He'll be looked upon more favorably in the history books, no doubt.

No, because Tony will win a couple of Superbowls before he's done, then he'll be the new Elway and a first ballot Hall of Famer. Once he's got the rings people will realize how staggeringly good his numbers are and he'll get the respect he's always deserved.

I hope you're right but for those still beating the lifeless horse, I'd take a horrible romo for five years after he gets us two rings. So call Eli what you want but he still has two.

People don't know how separate team achievments from individual ones. Simple as that

Stupid. Carr clearly hasn't played up to his contract, but I think his value is more than $1.8M. Hyperbole has no place in my kitchen!

He was one of the worst corners in the league last season, it's not far off

Two problems. First is that the "Jahnke Value Model" is based on Pro Football Focus' player ratings. Second is that it's based on cap charges, not what the players are being paid -- there is a big difference.

Eli over Romo due to rings?? Former Cowboys linebacker Robert Jones must have been the best 'backer of the 1990's. He has three rings!!!;)
