Gotcha. He seems oddly quick for a guy with a thick upper body. But the dude looks excellent in coverage. I love, love, love the confident linebackers. Someone that doesn't second guess and get stuck standing in the middle of nowhere with his thumb up his rear (ahem, Bobby Carpenter). This guy reads the play and gets to where he needs to be ASAP. Occasionally guys like this and Lee will guess wrong and leave a gap but I'd rather him be overconfident than not do a damn thing.

I like the pick. He'll be starting by the end of the year, is my guess.

If he does, I would hope it is at SOLB. That is the best spot for them to limit his exposure to the pass in this scheme.

Hitchens is a player.

He was a bigtime contributor on a very solid Iowa defense for his entire time there.

He can be plugged in at all 3 spots and is far better than Lemon, Wilber and Lawrence. He will push Durant at SOLB and be Lee's back up in the middle. He is a hitter and has a nose for the football and has good ability to drop and drift in zone which is what the MLB in this system has to do.

Then why are not running a franchise then. You a pro scout, coach, gm, owner. ....

He is like the rest of us. He doesn't have the money to buy a team and install himself as the lifetime GM without having the knowledge and experience needed to do they job well. That is the difference. In this particular case, qualifications means nothing.

So the editor of that site used inaccurate information? Great.

You don't understand what mutually exclusive means. How do you reconcile this? He is a scout as confirmed by the BTB crew.

I know it is important to you that he be a bad decision. You do love to come around when things look bad so you can snark away. Your previous avatar was much more apt.

I don't know about him taking on blocks at the poa as the Sam over Wilber. I thought that was actually the weakest part of his game although he wasn't bad. He does run very well. He is definitely a scheme fit for the mike and will with his ability to read, react, and run to the football.

There is so much freaking acrimony on this site. It's like the world's largest polygamous bad marriage.

You have to give it to the mods and admins, they are positive no matter what. Would love to have them around when the world comes to an end. Keep my morale up.

For a guy who needs his morale kept up in back:back:back .500 NFL seasons that we watch for entertainment, I can't *imagine* how much fun it would be trying to cheer you up during an actual Apocalypse. We'd be doing nothing but taking turns tickling you and telling you jokes. WG an Winicki are in charge of feeding you the cupcakes.

LOL

This has absolutely nothing to do with what you posted earlier from the "editor". He was not viewed by nfldraftscout as a draftable prospect.

Period.

I know that people like to endorse Mr. Birddog or whatever his name is, but that is beside the point.

Cupcakes are overrated. I want potato chips at the Apocalypse or I'm not going.

I think there are things about Hitchens that the coaches like. 2 time team capt. Defensive MVP, team leading tackler. I think the pick was a early but he is a guy they liked and wanted. We will see who was right

The comment was where they thought he would go and not where they rated him. They are not the same thing and your take and the authors are not mutually exclusive. NFLdraftscout are Rob Rang and Dan Brugler and not everything they say or write is on the player pages. Even on those player pages you linked it says 6th-7th as the high.

Further, those tweets speak to the discussion at hand. You were earlier acting incredulous that anyone had him as draftable. I would say you are being coy but I think that may be giving you too much credit.

Seattle had him rated such that they were ready to draft him in the fourth. Other named teams were expressing interest as well.

It seems very important to you that no one other than the Cowboys think he is worth a flip. After all how can you snipe and take parasitic potshots? Well we have a source naming multiple teams including ones that have good draft reputations expressing interest. It is what it is.

You're probably not going to make it long enough to enjoy any chips. 3:1 says a zombie gets you in that first week. Clove and WG and Winicki and me are going to be holding out having pillow fights and eating cupcakes and washing them down with Kool Aid until at least that long.

Seattle marches to their own drumbeat.

They are a team that will "reach" and take a player they like. The Justin Britt choice speaks to that as do others they have taken over the years.

They take players that fit into their system, which they have established, and it works.

So our thing is to just follow what they want to do and copy cat off of that?

Are you serious? We do not even have our own identity, let alone copy someone else's.

Why do you say he could have been available in the 5th or 6th? What is your evidence of this?

I'm so tired of everybody playing Jr. GM.

The Value of the pick is if he plays and contributes.

Not where he was taken and not if he'slid or moved up in Fantasy Draft.

You guys are all great fans.

But you are not Football Coaches, Owner's or Scouts, guys.

Don't let the mental gymnastics get in the way of enjoying he team.

No offense intended..OK?

Playing in space against the pass seems a real strength of his.

I would hope our thing is to get with Marinelli and the scouts and find players he feels fits in what he wants out of a player. Marinelli not the pundits are coaching the defense and while their opinion offers good information to fans most scouts and coaches really do not care what those people think.

And the dissembling begins.

I didn't say that I want us to do anything. Stop flailing. And your characterizations are gratuitous and without basis.

Seattle runs the same type of defense that we do. They also have been the best drafting teams in the middle rounds over the last few years.

Nobody is talking about copying anything but this notion that it's a bad idea to look for ideas from the defending champs is pretty damn stupid. If they and the Niners -another draft savvy 4-3 team- like the kid and were considering drafting him in the 4th then that more than a little validates the thought process behind the pick.

You don't need to buy a team to be coach, scout, gm
