Another Bengal arrested
Wilson one of 15 at wedding facing various charges

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (AP) -- Huntington Police have arrested Cincinnati Bengals running back Quincy Wilson and 14 others who were celebrating a wedding.

WSAZ-TV in Huntington was reporting Monday that the former West Virginia University standout was part of a wedding party celebrating at a bar Saturday night.

Lt. Hank Dial with the Huntington Police Department said Wilson and 14 others refused to follow police commands to disperse around 3 a.m. Sunday outside a bar.

Wilson and several others in the crowd are facing disorderly conduct charges, and some were charged with obstructing justice and underage consumption of alcohol, Dial said.

Police were trying to break up the crowd out of safety concerns, he said, after shots were fired about a half hour earlier one block from the bar.

None of those arrested with Wilson were thought to be involved in the shooting, Dial said.

Wilson was booked in the Western Regional Jail and released around 2:30 Sunday afternoon. He is scheduled to appear July 9 in Huntington Municipal Court.

Wilson is the 10th Bengals player arrested in the past 14 months, a streak of misconduct that drew the attention of NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, resulted in three suspensions and made Cincinnati a glaring example of players gone bad.

Spokesman Jack Brennan said it was inappropriate for the team to comment on Wilson's arrest because the matter is unresolved.

Wilson is the third former West Virginia player in the NFL to get into trouble in recent years.

Atlanta drafted the running back in the seventh round in 2004. The Bengals signed him off the Falcons' practice squad later that year, and he spent the next year on Cincinnati's practice squad.

Wilson got into three games last season, carrying two times for two yards in an Oct. 1 loss to New England. He was waived on Oct. 19 and signed back onto the practice squad.

Wilson, who lives in Weirton, was one of the Mountaineers' top running backs. He also was a teammate of receiver Chris Henry, a Bengals player who has been arrested four times.

Goodell suspended Henry for two games last season for misconduct, and has suspended him for the first eight games of the 2007 season for his most recent convictions.

Another former WVU player, Titans cornerback Pacman Jones, has been suspended for the entire 2007 season.

Jones, who has been arrested five times since being drafted in 2005, was being sought by police as a witness in a shooting early Monday involving members of his entourage after a fight at an Atlanta strip club.

Bengals linebacker Odell Thurman was suspended for all of last season for violating the league's substance abuse policy. He has yet to be reinstated.

After everything that has happened to your teammates over the past two years and everything that has happened in relation to Roger Goodell and his new conduct policy this offseason, you have to be one incredibly stupid human being to refuse any command given to you by a law enforcement officer.

Wow. Arrested while celebrating at a wedding party that was disturbed because of an unrelated incident that happened elsewhere. I'm sure he was giving the cops a hard time, but come on, it's a wedding for chrissakes. What else is there to do but get hammered?

Granted the crime itself wasn't that bad but the timing of this incident, along with his team affiliation, can really only make you shake your head if you're apart of the Bengals Organization.

You think team owner Mike Brown is getting tired yet of his secretary constantly beeping in with "Roger Goodell on line one for you, sir"?

You're like a gnat that doesn't go away. Not really harmful, but not exactly contributing much to the world either.

He and the others were told to leave, so you leave that is not to hard to do.

I got arrested in a crowd of people like that once (never even had a speeding ticket otherwise) and had done absolutely nothing wrong. Big fight broke out on bourbon street as I was walking home from work (worked on bourbon while in college) and the cops just kind of grabbed a bunch of people and arrested us for disturbing the peace and public intoxication (I hadnt even had a drink). My charges were all dropped, but I kind of have a hard time holding this against the guy as it sounds like it may be the same type thing.

You know, many folks likely complained back when the Cowboys were the butt of all the "arrest" jokes.

Now a guy who is a practice squad player for Cincy gets popped and everyone is jumping to do the same thing. Kind of exactly what folks complained about when it was Dallas.

How Marvin Lewis has sold out his soul to win is really remarkable.

The team has sold their soul out to win a few games by picking up players that probably alot of teams wouldn't want to touch.

Don't these stupid idiots learn anything? It's like, for cryin' out loud, don't do anything bad if you have a choice. Idiots.

Simple as that; your body is property of the National Football League.

You want a nice house, nice car, maybe a boat? Then shut the hell up, put your hands in your pockets and away from any drug paraphernalia or guns and knives, AND PLAY THE GAME! Even little children know to stay away from fire because it burns like mad, why can't 25 year old men do the same?
