Here's my thoughts on everything. Romo, the OL, the D, and the play calling.
I've been a Romo supporter for the last four years. I started off rooting for the kid because we needed a QB of the future, and he wasn't Hutchinson or Henson, who I hated. I began to follow the kid and listen to how much the coaches praised him. He showed me alot in preseason and even some more tonight. I know alot of you guys are going to say "HE SUCKED! STUPID DECISION! BRING BACK BLEDSOE!" I also know alot of you guys are going to back me up on what I'm about to say. He looked good tonight. He really did. First, you need to take into account that he played from behind the whole time he was in with NO RUNNING GAME! Either, the OL couldn't block for Jones/Barber or they were too far down so they needed to pass. You know what? With those circumstances, I was impressed. Yeah, he three 3 interceptions. And ...? Bledsoe has thrown 3 twice this year and he's a fourteen year veteran! Romo? He's rated a little higher than a rookie to me. Yeah, he's been in the league four years, but he threw his first pass last week. He also threw 2 TDs tonight, made plays by buying time, and showed the willingness to "wing it" out there even though he threw an interception the last drive. That shows me alot about a young quarterback.
The OL SUCKS! Sorry, but it's true. They gave us some false hope recently, but they're terrible. Another reason Romo needs to play. Bledsoe will just stand there and get killed.
The defense cost us the game. As much as I would love to say, oh Bledsoe got us into too big of a hole. NOPE. I can't say it. The defense tonight couldn't stop my grandmother running behind and offensive line on newborns. I've never seen such a terrible defense. You know what makes it worse? You can't blame any specific person. They all sucked tonight. You know what bothers me too? We can't get to the quarterback. We can rush four or we can rush eight and still we can't get a sack. Plenty of times we sent the house and the Giants OL picked it up. Or our guys were in the backfield and just couldn't take down Manning. It drives me insane. I refuse to rip on Zimmer too. That's not bad play calling. It's bad execution. Missing tackles, missing the QB when he's a step infront of you, getting beat in coverage. That's on the players not the coaches.
However, I can blame the offensive play calling. *** was Parcells & Co. thinking? Calling passes on first and second down from your own 1/2 yardline? The second time causing a safety. As much as I want to blame Bledsoe for that pick on the sideline, I can't. That should have been a run. Bad decision. And to have Romo pass on his 1st play? ***?! Run, run, run. Pass when necessary. Ease him into the game. They were only down 5. Stupid, stupid, stupid.
That's enough ranting. But know that I'm thinking very level headed right now. I had time to cool down. Like I've been saying since mid last year, I'd rather have Romo make these mistakes now if they'll help him and us for next year, instead of Bledsoe making the same stupid mistakes when his potential is maxed and he's on the decline.
