That happens to EVERYBODY including Suh. It's the NFL man.

Not like that it doesn't. That is getting dominated.

It is one thing to get caught unaware or be late off the snap but that is not what we see here. That is man on man isolation domination. It is also not the only time it happens. If he doesn't win with his quickness he has problems.

I don't know man. I think he can be in some trouble this offseason. He was paid to be a playmaking DT, the linchpin of Marinelli's defense, not a solid SDE.

He is a playmaker just not a world beater. He is being paid half of what top DL in the league make.

Another good game from the rookie.

He has some things to work on in the running game but he is becoming unblockable in pass rushing situations. He abused the center tonight several time and is showing incredible quickness.

Your thoughts?
He reminds me a little bit of Russell Maryland with his quickness. And David Irving reminds me of some of that "Big Cat" Leon Lett.
Not saying they are there yet but seeing some signs.

Based on college film, I would say that Tapper is an even better talent than Collins, though we've yet to see how it will translate. With a good pick and signing we could really make defensive line a strength next year.

This has to be our year to load up on defensive players in the draft. I would like to see us bring in a speedy WR as a complinent to Dez to give us a thunder and lightening element but the rest should go D.

And if you are wondering what I am talking about with his strength

http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-game-...4363/Zach-Zenner-rushes-for-second-TD-of-game

That is Collins getting driven and turned at the poa by a single block. He has the upper body strength to disengage but that matters little when you are getting bulldozed.
I disagree.

Collins is #96. He fills the gaps to the outside of the OLineman then then has to get back to the inside gap. He can only get back to the inside gap by giving up ground.

JCrawford is #58. He got Bulldozed on that play leaving the gap to the inside of Collins open.

He is getting driven and turned. Gap discipline is what it is and while I am not surprised you would assume that he was trying to freelance conveniently, if he maintains he gap he is supposed to try and squeeze the hole. He is going the wrong way for that.

Jack Crawford was supposed to be in that hole. Collins wanted to get to that outside gap. If you consider the outside gap as his primary responsibility, then he is not physically getting blown up. If his only responsibility was the inside gap, then you would say that he got blown up physically.

If he was required to 2-gap, then he made a mental mistake by "peaking" into the outside gap, but he definitely intended to get into the outside gap.

Rank these guys at Dt: Collins, Thornton, McClain and T Crawford.

I know that Tcrawford had played
Mostly at DE as of late but I'm curious on how the zoners rank these guys.

McClain, Collins, Crawford and Thornton, but probably only because Crawford has played primarily at end this year. If he was playing 3-tech, he'd probably be No. 1.

We need for Crawford to start getting 3-tech reps again now that Irving is playing so well at end.

TCrawford had some struggles against the run at DT and his pass rushing as a DT was just OK.

I think the starting pair of McClain and Collins has been better than McClain/Crawford.

JJ Watt had 5 sacks as a rookie. Khalil had 4.5. Those numbers are excellent for a rookie DL. Rookie seasons like Aldon Smith and Von Miller are an outlier, even amoungst the highest rated rookies
DT is a position rookies don't put up huge numbers. Most need to add strength and work on technique. He should be even better with an off season in the weight room and a training camp to add to what he has learned this season. Very nice draft class

Think about this: we could easily have Snacks Harrison and jenoris Jenkins, if we didn't have T Crawford and Carr
