Wilfork fined
By Mike Reiss, Globe Staff
Patriots NT Vince Wilfork has been fined $5,000 for unnecessary roughness -- striking an opponent late -- during Sunday's game against the Cowboys.

The play in question came at the opening of the second quarter. The Cowboys faced a second-and-5 from their 43-yard line and Marion Barber rushed for 3 yards. Patriots DE Ty Warren was penalized for unnecessary roughness on the play, and Wilfork -- who was not flagged on the play -- was deemed to have struck tight end Jason Witten late.

Wilfork had previously been fined $12,500 for a low hit on Bills QB J.P. Losman in a Sept. 23 game. He had his hearing for that fine this past Tuesday. No decision has been reached.

Who was it that said they Pats didn't do anything dirty that game?

I want that person to post in here and admit they were wrong.

... Yeah, like that's gonna happen.

Never said during any NFL game that both teams don't do some hitting after the whistle or break a rule. Hack, we broke the Rules 12 times in the game. I said Sour Grapes to all the whining about Pats hard nosed play. They smash you for 61 minutes, and we shied away and wilted, clearly. I hope our team learned a lesson in this game.

NFL vindicated some , and Wilfork lost the equivalent of $1 to Joe Fans paycheck.

hard nosed play? NO, the Pats are downright dirty. 20 years ago, it would be hard nosed play, but with the change in rules and how the NFL has become sissified, the Pats are dirty and extreme.

What does it matter when the refs turn a blind eye during the game?

We have more than a few guys on our team that are Nasty. One that is fined and has flat out hurt a lot of people with illegal tackles.

Pats are a hard nosed bunch of guys that hit you and play through a whistle.

I hope our players that have a history past 5 years of wilting in December and gameday's observed and learned.

While Wilfork's fine on his hit on Witten was well deserved, it wasn't exactly "dirty" like everyone says it is-I see this every week, and even we do it sometimes.

Come on guys, we lost-we have Minny to worry about before the bye.
