Another reason why we should get Javon Walker

Because Walker going to Philadelphia would simply suck for us. Them having Reggie Brown and Javon Walker. I don't want to see that...

I like Philly being the pits of the NFC East, and this would quickly turn things around.

I also don't want to see a team like New England rebound by getting him. Same with Pittsburgh.

These teams are our chief competition...

That would be another horrible thing for us. Denver is on the pinnacle of being a really good team.

You don't sign/trade players to prevent other teams from signing them. Salary cap space/draft picks are too precious for that kind of stuff.

My point was that I shouldn't even be considered a reason because it is entirely ridiculous.

How are teams in the AFC our main competitors?

GB want's a premium pick for Walker. Who and what are we gonna trade with them for him???

Let's no go overboard with this. Walker will not be a Cowboy. No need.

Who do you think we play every year? Who do you think plays in the super bowl... GOOD teams are our main competitors... Youth at receiver is a need, and this guy is a solution to that need. Keeping him from another good team is definitely a reason to have him, rather than not.

Why do you think the eagles didn't release T.O. last year?

We're going to have to draft a receiver high sooner or later, why not get someone who is a proven pro bowler... I'd trade as much as a 2nd or a 3rd for him.

Eagles didn't release Owens because it cost them nothing to keep him untill his bonus is due. Its not comparable, it'll cost us an arm and a leg to get Walker.

And I'm personally not willing to give up a 2nd for a 3rd string wideout. We didn't give Glenn a raise to move to slot. Depth can be found in the draft, with a smaller cost.

We need a young WR and I would give a second rounder for him. Try to make it next years second if at all possible.

He has declared he wants to be traded and sounds like he will not play:

But... doesn't he have to play so many games this year to make him be an UFA after this coming season?

If Philadelphia doesn't end up with Walker, they will acquire Moulds. They clearly have a deficiency at wide receiver and recognize it.

Remember too, Walker is coming off a nasty ACL injury. He won't be the same receiver until 2007 at the earliest. Take a look at other receivers who suffered the same injury and look at their numbers their next year back. Some, like Galloway, have a down year then turn things around. Others are just never the same.

I have confidence in Newman and Henry that they can hold their own against any set of WR. I also feel the young DL will make a bigger impact this coming season because they will come into the year with a lot more confidence and understanding of the Pro game

Teams usually settle most their personnel strategies a week before the draft, so I think Walker will be traded the week of the draft, if not on draft day itself. Eric Moulds' fate is a major factor in deciding where Walker goes. Once Moulds is gone, at least one desperate team should be willing meet GB's asking price for Walker.

Walker's worth a 2nd round pick-- especially a late 2nd rounder.

Walker will end up in Denver IMO...

lets not forget AZ and Detroit as possible destinations :) just kidding.

I think the packers will ask for a #1 but would settle for a #2 and wouldn't let him go for anything less. he has to show up and play at least 7 games before he is a FA. so him saying I won't play only means he has to stay at GB for one more year.

Yeah if we're going out signing guys so other teams that are "our main competitors" won't get them, we go into salary cap hell very quickly. We had other needs this offseason, but you don't see us signing Julian Peterson or Nate Burleson at their outrageous contracts just so Seattle doesn't get them. If anyone outside our division is our main competition, it's Seattle.

I'm also not convinced that Philly getting Walker or Moulds makes them the favorite in this division anyway.

I would trade Julius Jones for Javon Walker straight up.....Green Bay needs a reliable back up to Ahman Green who has been injury prone as of late and we still need a legit 3rd receiver that can move into T Glenn's spot if he's released next season!

Denver, is not impressive to me. Plummer sucks, they were just able to hide it better for most of last year. He got exposed against us and against Pitt. Essentially, against any team with a good D.
They can have Walker. Plummer is still going to throw INTs. Walker won't be the same next season, if ever again. He may still be good, but I consider him "tainted goods." Knee injuries no good for a WR. I'm not concerned about Walker, I don't want to see him in Philthy but it wouldn't scare me that much either. I don't see Philthy being any better next year while the rest of the division is a lot better.
I really hope that Bledsoe4MVP isn't serious about wanting to trade JJ for Walker....Let's trade our starting RB who has shown flashes of stardom for a WR who is coming off a major knee injury who will only be our #3 WR AT BEST. Good idea....not

I really wouldn't be that scared if Philly signed Javon. They still wouldn't even be close to having as good of a recieving core as us. Would you rather take TO, Glenn, and Witten, or would you rather have Walker, Brown, and L.J. Smith? You see, there's nothing to worry about.
