Ok, so we don't land another number 1 stud wideout, but it may be ok. Here is what I think:

1.) Year 2 of Garrett as OC. He knows his personnel better and will design better game plans this year. Prediction - 2 trick plays for touchdownsin 2008
2.) Pressure will be taken off Romo. I would be suprised to see him duplicate last year's yards and TD's as the running game with the new additions will help the offense be more balanced and give us much needed time of possession advantages. Plus this is a must for the cold weather games
3.) This may seem like a contradition to number 2, but there will be more screen passes this year so expect less WR and TE catches and more touches by the backs
4.) Isiah Stanback healthy and praticing for a full off season and training camp. Essentially he was red-shirted last year and he could make a nice impact at number 3 or 4 receiver
5.) Hurd and Austin in Year 3 (though one may not make the team). The third year is usually the time the wideouts "get it"
6.) If Terry Glenn is with the Cowboys, it will be a bonus
7.) More use of no-huddle and 4 receiver sets (or even 5)

So essentially, add in the new players, another year of seasoning for the young players and the coaches and we could have a very exciting and productive offense ( I know we had one in 2007!) that hopefully won't go into the tank in December.

** If T.O. gets injured, all bets are off !!!! **

Your thoughts???

I would love to see more trick plays. We didn't use them last year and we didn't need them. But God I miss the flea-flicker to Terry Glenn. That was one exciting play that always seemed to work. I miss what #83 brought to the table. Just imagine what we can do with Felix The Cat, the wonderful, wonderful cat. Felix the Feline. Okay, I'll stop.:D

I hope we see ZERO trick plays... trick plays are for 9-7 teams and the fans! I would trade those trick plays for some Returns and Blocks on teams!

Granted, if I recall correctly, Tom Landry was the master of trick plays and Jimmys teams didnt need to run them, so as a Cowboy fan I'm somewhat torn... Ill go with Jimmys way!

I think the running game and offensive balance was a big weakness last year. Often when we wanted to run the ball we couldn't. A big factor leading to less big plays later on in the year was teams were daring us to run and we couldn't consistently do it.

Part of that was the RBs, but a bigger part was the OL run blocking. I've never been a big fan of Sprano. I am hopeful that Houck can get this underachieving (for run blocking) group to become the dominant run blocking line that they should be.

Actually, I recall the New England Patriots running a trick play with Moss throwing back to Brady. And if I recall correctly, they won more than nine games last year.

actually, i'm whining about people who hear a word and make it a lifetime study to define it.

like "i want a wow player".

jones said it offhand in an interview. which GM out there doesn't want...WOW?

now, how often has that GD forsaken subject come up from people who can't see past it?

too often.

If we dont develop some sort of running game (at the very least some sort of balance with the pass and run) we wont go far.

We lost because of a lack of a running game.
The Pats lost because of a lack of a running game.

Giants ran for almost 100 yards in SB while Pats didnt even get half that.
