Heck, only the old codgers can remember the jinx, now! Nary a youngster would know of it.

That is one of the most impressive posts I've ever read. It's the reason the game, the Cowboys in particular bond us. Where else in life would you get that kind of thread. Nice job kid!

I wish the Cowboys would go back to the striped socks. They were cool. In the beginning I wasn't too crazy about them, but now they've definitely grown on me.

Bring back the metallic blue pants of the 70s. Please.

By the way, when did our colors officially become navy blue and white? It's like I woke up one day and the Cowboys had different colors. All modern day memorabilia is navy and white. Must be a Jones family thing.

It was the original color scheme

I think Tex started it when they got new blue jerseys with the gray (silver?) numbers in the 80s. I remember Cowpoke posting an old video of Tex going though tons of color schemes so the new ones they wanted to come out with would look the "classiest" and show up on TV the best.

But I'm with you on the color change... The home and aways always had more of a royal blue. I wonder if they intentionally wanted something different from the Giants blue?

All I want is for the blues to match, granted the pants could go less green but seriously how can you have two shades of the same colour that clash on the same uniform?

I LOVE these uniforms!

lol, a "Confederate gray"...

yeah, Tex Schramm actually petitioned to allow Confederate flags on the jerseys and for our team to whistle Dixie before games as well but it wasn't put through in time before his death

Is that true?

Or if they're trying to look like the Yankees?

By the way, great pic of Tony Hill, my all-time favorite Cowboy.

thanks lol

i agree with those that want the same blue as the star...thats just common sense. but i guess the powers that be believe it makes it POP on screen just as the metallic silver-green pants lol

Re: when we went to navy from royal blue: I believe it was for the 1981 season

Re: gray numbers on navy jerseys: that combo is very difficult to see on TV or even in person; I think white numbers are much easier on the eyes

Re: "throwbacks" -- they aren't, despite the name. Compare today's "throwbacks" to the original jersey from 1960-63:

The biggest difference is the color: the original unis were royal blue, not navy; its hard to tell from the Meredith pics, so try this one:

Notice how the white shoulders on the original jersey tapered at the neck and below the numbers (almost a football shape?). The current "throwbacks" don't do that.

Also, the "throwbacks" have a huge "yoke" that connects the two shoulders; the originals didn't have that. I know we must have a nameplate now, but the effect of the yoke is too overpowering, IMHO. Instead of a contrasting color, the yoke s/b the same color as the jersey with the nameplate consisting of the jersey color and opposing colored letters.

This way, you can see the player's name, but w/o the yoke effect. This is exactly how the 70s road blues were done. The nameplates were blue with white letters -- it shouldn't be hard to do that on a true throwback.

Since this is the Cowboys' 50th season, and since we're playing three games against original AFL teams in their throwbacks, I wish Jerry would get with the program and dress the Cowboys in honest-to-goodness throwbacks for a change.

But that's just me . . .

There hasn't been a Dallas Cowboys uniform I don't like, except maybe that pink and white thing Jessica Simpson was sporting a few seasons back. :(

i'm with you. I think they are very sharp. (i think the socks put it over the top) I'm happy with this third jersey for now.

LOVE the current throwbacks that they use but can't figure why they never have (and never will?) wear the alternate "away"version (see pic). It looks even better than the blue, IMO but they stopped selling it a couple years ago because we never wore them in a game and obviously never will.

Those jerseys are awesome! Those should be our throwbacks.
