Another WR Mark Bradford posting

There already have been about 2 postings discussing Bradford. Cowboys signed him as an UDFA. Don't remember everything that was said about Bradford except somebody posted Giants Blue forum where a poster wanted Giants to sign him as early as the 4th round.

I first read/heard about Bradford from the Huddle Report; it was extremely positive so I was very excited when we signed him. Thought I post Huddle evaluation on him. BTW: I believe this kid could really challenge either Hurd or Austin; I'd be very surprised if he doesn't make our roster -- and I don't mean our PS.

from Huddle Report:

Mark Bradford WR Stanford

Mark has very good size and speed to be a stand-out WR at the NFL level. He runs great routes and has excellent hands. He is a very smart player and understands situational football. Mark will go over the middle and give his body up to make a catch. He is not flashy and will not look like the best WR on the field during a game, but when the game ends, he will wind up being the best WR that was on the field. He is a very underrated player in this draft. Mark is a good blocker and does all the little things that a WR needs to do to become a great WR in the NFL. He reminds me of Hines Ward (WR Pittsburgh Steelers). I call him Mark (The Dream) Bradford because I think he will float his way to stardom in the NFL.

NEEDS TO IMPROVE
Mark needs to work on his quickness and build himself up as do most WR’s coming out of college. I believe he had a foot injury and still is not completely healed from that injury. Mark is the type of player that plays faster than he times and I know he will work hard to improve in all phases of his game.

TALENT BOARD ROUND 2
Mark is going to be a big-time player for the team that drafts him in the NFL. He has the talent and athletic ability to have a long career. Now I know that Mark will not likely be picked very early in this draft. First of all, he played for Stanford and second, he doesn’t have the blazing speed that the coaches, GM’s and scouts look for when they are looking for players to pick in the first round. Give Mark a year with good QB and WR coaches and you are going to see a player as good as Greg Jennings (WR Green Bay Packers) who I profiled as a good bet to be a #1 WR in the NFL (see Huddle Report Archives). I see players like Mark being overlooked every year because of WR’s who are faster. But speed does not make you a great player and it never will. Mark understands how to play his position and he understands the little things that make a great player. I know that Mark will never stop working to make himself a better player, which is the first ingredient you need to be successful at the next level. Look for Mark to be listed or drafted somewhere in the third or even fourth rounds, but I’m telling you no matter what round he is taken in, he has the talent to be a “go to”, #1 WR and a Pro Bowl player. Remember: Mark (The Dream) Bradford -- the name says it all

What are the measurables? Is he a big receiver or small and slow? I would rather have another Wes Welker than a Jennings.

Bradford ran a 4.49, and scored very well in the vertical jump and bench press. He has very good size (about 6'2" 220) and has his fundamentals down pat.

Yeah, the huddlereport is where I first heard of Bradford also. Drew was really high on this guy even before the combine. So, it's a good pickup. BTW sago1, you may want to edit your post. The guys at thehuddlereport monitor this site, and they'll suspend your account. Also, the mods will slap you on the wrists for this infraction. I speak from experience. So, don't cut and paste just put it in your own words and you'll be ok.

He sounds like a nice kid. Gotta wonder why he wasn't drafted; as far as I know he didn't have any off field problems. Frankly with his stats, size, speed, etc he sounds like a really good prospect to me. I guess Huddle Report was right that too many players are overlooked cause they didn't have top speed at the combine. TO didn't have top speed & went in the 3rd round; he sure turning out to be a good WR. Ha.

dbair, he's never run close to that slow. At worst, he ran a 4.69. He lowered that by .2 seconds at his pro day. Plus, he has much better game speed. People get too caught up on measurables.

PFW says he ran a 4.74 "is not explosive off the line, has no long speed"..."ran poorly at the combine"...struggles to beat man coverage"..."almost everything he catches is contested"..."is not a sharp route runner"

if he even managed to make the practice squad, I'd be surprised

David, whoever wrote that needs to be fired. Because except for the combine piece, exactly none of that is true.

ok cardinal fan, cool then if he is faster, maybe why at the combine he ran slower, you did say or somewhere i read he had some kind of leg injury or something, so he wasnt completely healthy when he ran at the combine,

Joe, that's correct. But he wanted to participate regardless and he did well in the other drills.

cool, then maybe we got a steal as a undrafted free agent, granted doesnt have blazing speed at 4.49 but fast enough and some players play faster on the football field, ala jerry rice,

Exactly. Speed is his biggest concern, but one of the best WR's in the game (Boldin) ran a 4.6-4.7 at the combine. So, if I were you, I wouldn't be concerned.

Every year we get all hyped about some undrafted rookie, but outside of Romo nobody has done very much.
