Bullflop--- Cowboys did stupendous job with Zeke last year when he strained his hammy...and kept him out till 3rd preseason game against Seahawks and Zeke plowed through their defense

That's been their policy for some time now from the looks of things. Hamstring injuries aren't anything to take lightly and they don't. I've had incidents of them several times in the past and it seems rest is really the best cure. I'm glad to see we're being careful with that.

with 5 pre-season games, sit whomever you want for as long as you want (especially starters and guys that get a lot of PT)...plenty of time to get them reps in game situations with that extra game

If you looked at him up close it was obvious. His muscles had muscles. It was too far past his natural body/frame.

He literally should have stayed away from the weight room for an offseason to give his body a chance to recover from years of being over-worked in the weight room.

David Boston lost flexibility and then started getting injured. It was well known that he used Roids. He was reported to be obsessed with with the weight room and getting bigger. I think he entered some body builder contests.
ESPN did do a whole piece on him about his weight room vanity, where he smirked acknowledged his obsession to a point.

Years ago I was lifting about 6 hours per week. I started having shoulder problems. The doctor diagnosed it as tendinitis (tendonitis) and lose shoulder joints from stretched tendons/ligaments. He sent me to a physical therapist and their treatment was mostly lifting with light weights at higher reps and some stretch-band work. It didn't help. Eventually, I just took time off from lifting and the problem resolved itself. I don't think it was ever going to get better if I just kept lifting.
xwalker---- OH man i am going in tomorrow Monday for an MRI on my left shoulder....i have been in a wheelchair for 30 years and i have done wheelchair 26 mile marathons and countless rigorous hill work training...about 2 months ago my left shoulder hurt like someone punched me in the arm and i cannot raise my hand over my head without a lot of pain...i went to physical therapy and the excercises helped a little but not much.....I hope i did not permanently damage my shoulder...cause i am already paralyzed from waist down...and i love rigorous workouts for endorphin high...i dont do much weight training but i am pretty buff even for almost 60 years old....i am so sad about my shoulder though....working out 4-5 times a week i loved so much..plus i dont have to watch my calories as much..and i love eating food too....i am hoping it will get better but thanks for your testimony about your shoulder

xwalker--- about your weight lifting....you must be pretty buff yourself putting in 6 hours a week....are you back to that much training...or does your shoulder still cause issues?

At this point 4 to 5 preaeason games are unnecessary, could pronanly get by with a scrimmage against a team and one preaeason game.

Of course, its a money thing and not a training method so it really doesn't matter.

Its just that it's so needless to aee a player lost because of a preseason game injury.
plasticman--i agree...and it is about the money...the players will not go for 18 game regular season and 2 game preseason....oh man if we did increase to 18 game regular season then the strategy would have to change because first string guys would be so burned out by end of season and then tack on post season.....they would have to increase from 53 players to like 65 and 1st and second string players would be interchangagle..pretty much like the way; Marinelli likes to use a rotation on defense

Pants--i agree i think the strategy is changing...lots of rest because the season is long...better to be a little under conditioned at the start of the year then to be overworked and injured half way through the season...i looked at this years injuries compared to the last 5 years and we are tied this year for out best year so far......hope we stay that way?

Sorry to hear that you're in a wheelchair but it sounds like you've made the best of it. It's great that you've been able to workout your upper body over the years. The wheelchair marathons are very impressive.

Get that shoulder fixed whatever it takes. I still can't lift heavy like I did prior to the shoulder problems. I would need surgery to tighten up my shoulder (They actually shorten the ligaments) if I wanted to lift heavy again. I know someone that had it done on both shoulders and it was a long rehab, but they were happy with the results.

If I had to use my arms/shoulders the way you likely do with the wheelchair I would probably get the surgery.

Hopefully you don't need surgery, but if it has been 2 months, something is definitely wrong. I guess it's also possible to get a pinched nerve or something, or at least that's one of the conditions that I hear about with baseball pitchers.

I guess your shoulder never gets a rest if your in the wheelchair. Do you ever use a motorized wheelchair?

If 18 games result in a bigger roster limit, then I'm all for it.

What I expect to happen is that the player's union will request that the vested veterans have their snaps limited in the preseason. They might request that vested veterans only play 3 of the games. With 90 man rosters they have a complete extra team of players that won't be on the final 53.

Having said that, the players may have to give up something in the next collective bargaining agreement in order to eliminate testing for weed unless that somehow changes before then. The players might agree to 18 games in exchange for no Weed testing.

I figured you wanted to resist the electric. I'm just thinking of how you can rest your shoulder for a couple of months which might be all that it needs. I'm sure a good Doctor will help you figure it out.

xwalker---OH Ok i see....use an electric for a "rest period" for shoulder re-hab?...yeah that may be what the doctor orders?

The Cowboys can keep his rights indefinitely. He does not get paid and he does not take up a roster spot. They can wait for a long time.

Weed being illegal is dumb and I don't even smoke Weed. The NFL testing for it is even dumber than the laws. What is the point?

Actually, the reason the NFL tests for Weed, IMO, is because they wanted to use it as a bargaining chip in the future CBA negotiations. It's always about the money.

Yep, I'm assuming there is no way to just use one hand with your current setup.

It's possible that a steroid shot into the shoulder could also solve the problem. I've known some people that got great results with that; although, it's takes a week or two to "kick in".
