Last year, one of the main complaints about Newman was that he never looked back for the ball. We then go and pick up Anthony Henry who actually looks back for the ball. But, there have been a few times where Henry has made me nervous by not even looking at the Wide Reciever with his eyes on the Quarterback the entire time. I remember specifically one instance in the Eagles game where he did this and gave up a pass play. Has anyone else noticed something similar? I'm not saying its wrong, I just want everyone's opinion.

I love the way Henry is playing. He is playing agressive and may get beat every once in a while but his pass defence is very good and I wouldn't change a thing.

Anthony Henry is not on the list of things that I worry about on the Cowboys.

I've noticed the same thing. Note, though, that proper technique differs for a CB playing zone (watch the QB) or man (watch the WR). I think Henry is always looking for the pick and Newman is always afraid of getting toasted. They both played superbly yesterday.

Newman is playing the best CB of his career. He's allowed one pass completion the past two weeks against the likes of Moss and Owens. He could be in the Pro Bowl this year.

He made a play for a ball to Greg Lewis in the second quarter; got there a split second late and gave up a first down. I loved it. Low risk, aggressive, AWARE, cornerback play. The guy is awesome in coverage and tackles well. His solid play on one side is allowing our star CB, TNew to shine on the other. I think Henry will go down and our best FA signing since Glover.

I agree.....and i would also like to see him come on the blitz more. Mike, how did we roll coverage over when he blitzed, i was wondering who took over his responsibilities, would like to see that a lot more

Hoov, good question-- I don't know. That's the benefit of having a "Glenn" on the roster even with TNew blitzing we are still left with two good corners on pass defense. That has to give Zimmer tremendous confidence to be able to blitz a corner on occasion.

Good thing those four interceptions stuck in the back of his jersey, then.

He allowed two catches against Owens yesterday, the 23-yard crossing pattern and the 6-yarder when he tossed Owens out of bounds short of the first down. He also allowed the 3-yard catch by Reggie Brown, when he planted Brown with a great tackle.

Five-game stats for Newman: 12 catches allowed (2.4 per game), 142 yards allowed (28.4 per game), no touchdowns allowed, one interception, one sack and two tackles for loss.

he wont get into the pro-bowl without at least 4 picks i dont think...he needs to step up in that category. even his first year when he had 4 3 were in one game. The one thing i wish he could do better was get picks. But im just being "pick"y. Heh...get it

How do they determine who gets credited with allowing the catch? Is only in a man to man situation?

Those are by my count. I chart every pass and who it was against. And it includes completions in zone coverage.

Right now the best FA signing looks to be Bledsoe.

Newman has had problems looking back for the ball. He may be getting better at it, but he has had his problems over his first two years.

Every team's fans think their cornerbacks don't look back for the ball.

Newman is a better CB than most people think. I still stand on the belief that he is the best one on the team.
