Could we really go into the season with Anthony Hitches as the opening day starter vs the 49ers. I do recall someone betting Anthony Hitchens start at MLB the first game next year. Stay tuned.

Hope the kid can learn to play MLB quick. Went from special teams coach pounding the table for him in the 4th round for special teams to getting a chance to start.

I don't see the rookie starting....I see Carter, Durant, or even Holloman as more likely options. Hitchens could easily start at SAM though depending on what other LB's play where.

i would vote for Holloman personally.

though i may be in the minority who wants to see Carter put in there. i never really understood why he wasn't an option there last year.

so my ideal starting LBs would be Holloman(WLB) - Carter(MLB) - Wilbur (SLB)

but since they don't seem to consider Carter an option at MLB i'll switch him and Holloman

so Carter (WLB) - Holloman (MLB) - Wilbur (SLB)

i don't have a better idea than Wilbur at SAM right now but if Hitchens proves to learn the MLB position than Holloman could go there

Might be him, might be someone else currently on the roster.

Might be someone not even on the roster at this time.

I'll wait and see who the starter will be cause it is too early to even make a legit guess right now.

Does anyone have any faith in the rookie Will Smith? He looked decent on the highlight tapes.

He's a Will LB (as in weak), I'm hoping he wins the backup spot. I think he does. He's very good in coverage and pretty good sliding through the traffic on the run.

I'd rather see Church there..........FWIW.

Alan Ball couldn't even transition within the secondary. What makes you think a 6'2", 215lb safety can play middle linebacker? Please detail your argument in full.

I will post a thread full of expletives and call-outs if Hitchens ends up being a good player and none of these guys around here come to eat their crow.

Who do you have starting at the safety positions?
Based on the logic of moving a guy who's smaller than Patrick Peterson to middle linebacker, I would guess they want to move Crawford to safety since he's pretty quick.

Agree.

Holloman showed steady improvement in just 3 starts at MLB last year...and in the Cowboys biggest game of the year, he had his best game...posting 11 tackles (led the defense) and 2 sacks (matched Hatcher). He has solid size & good athleticism, is a capable blitzer, and his safety background in college helps him in coverage...with Lee saying the one trait Holloman consistently showed from training camp on, was his ability to be around the ball when it goes in the air.

Here's an article about Holloman written by Broaddus following the season finale vs. the Eagles: http://www.dallascowboys.com/news/a...Holloman/db046100-0aa5-4c07-9582-2f3ac8698c05

Well...I sort of double dipped. earlier I applauded a trial move to MLB from our safety Church. Since he can'r cover lol

Don't really care. We have had 3rd round, 5th round, on and on start for this franchise. We will find somebody as long has his name is not Ernie Simms.

A position he's never played? I think he'll be our starting MLB or WLB.. and it won't be as bad as most people seem to think here.

I seriously doubt he can cover well enough to play either of those positions on any kind of regular basis. He needs to play the SAM where he can do what he does best and hit people in the box. And he shouldn't even be on the field in the Nickle. Not unless he's dropped 10+ pounds, has gotten a lot quicker, and learns a ton in a short amount of time in camp. It's just not realistic to expect to play either WIL or Mike, but we'll see I guess

Listening to Jason Garrett today, I'm thinking Holloman gets the first shot. At least he was the first name out of Jason's mouth when asked the question today.
