He looks 20 pounds overweight . Alex smith abused him a couple times . Not wise for spencer to let himself go this offseason ( on a contract year ) .
If you don't practice hard you shouldn't have a place on this team IMO . He has to drop that weight and earn the respect back from his teammates . Terrible first game .

2. In case you haven't noticed, he missed most of TC, all of pre-season, and our opener following knee surgery. Hard for a guy to do a ton of conditioning work on a balky knee.

I thought he looked more 'soft' than 'fat.' I know Ryan commented on it in the game, but I didn't think it was all that apparent. It's the natural consequence of missing 7 weeks of conditioning.
That said, he played pretty well on a limited basis. In 4-5 weeks, he'll be a force to be reckoned with again, and he'll give us meaningful snaps in the mean time.

he did not play well. He was yanked , he didnt hold any contain on his side. go watch the film.

I believe JG mentioned in one of his pressers that it was about conditioning; getting him back in football shape. I'd have to dig around for it, soo yeah, just take my word for it that I saw it. lol

When you come off that type of surgery, more often then not, you'll gain weight. Your on crutches and can't move normally, let alone practice. It happens all the time.
