I would put Anthony Spencer on the weak side rather than the strong side. I know a lot of people would argue not to move Ware from where he is comfortable, but putting Ware on the strong side would decrease the learning curve for Spencer.

Spencer is good and strong enough against the run, he's fine at SOLB

In Wade's defense last year - the SAM was the downhill constant rusher, and that's the position Merriman played. Ware's far too amazing an athlete to be relegated solely to that role. He'll continue covering TEs 30 yards downfield, or whatever ridiculous generalization we've made for his role last year.

yea i agree with superpunk... ware cant just be a constant rusher hes too good of a linebacker... anthony spencer needs to be the guy the other team worries about so Ware doesnt get double teamed and could wreal serious havoc

I think they will move around a lot and confuse the heck out of opposing offenses.

Spencer will be the starting strong side OLB!

i dont think spencer will start at all... Ware Ayodel James Carpenter will be our starters and Spencer will be our designated pass rusher brought in on pass plays

There was an article on Spencer where his coach talked about him, and the fact that he was stout against the run, etc. It was pretty much the perfect description of an SOLB.

Naa he'll start, Carpenter isn't the OLB everyone claims he is. I think you'll see ole' Bobby playing inside, where he belongs really.

You are correct! SOLB has to be stout against the run!

I think where Carp plays depends on if James improves. If he does not get better at coverage, Carp goes inside.

I can only pray, and then plug Burnett in at Ayodele's spot in the nickel.

I believe too that Carp will go inside but not because of James (whether he fails or not) but because that is where he will benefit himself and the team. First, they have stated that they want to limit some of James plays (3rd down) and that is where Carp will play for pass defense. Second, if Ellis can really come back you will have him and Spncer sharing the SOLB and Ware and Burnett playing Weak. I think we will see more of Carp in the Nickel/Dime pass coverage this year so to me the title of starting is not a factor. All will play a prominent role in Wade's scheme and all must be successful for us to be successful on defense. What they do with the frontline will really help or expose our secondary.

He's 6'3", 270 pounds, and can throw up 30 reps of 225 and bench 525 pounds.

The guy can play wherever.

Exactly.

He'll be on the strong-side of the formation.

pundits like mike mayock were saying spencer graded out better than ware at the combine in the strength drills. mayock also said he had the best first step of any passrusher in the draft. a little strength coaching from joe j and he'll be fine.
