Money would be better spent on defensive line help.

I agree, but at the same time, improving the 2ndary gives the Dline more time in the pass rush. A better pass rush helps the 2ndary... if it he's cheap and Dallas can still find a good DE/pass rusher, It could be a win-win

Cromartie has like 15 kids by 12 baby mommas and reads at like a 4th grade level....but I'd still take him over Carr at this point

None of that has anything to do with his skill on the football field. The guy can play. Not only that but being he has so many baby momma's i'm sure he's going to be playing in this league for AWHILE being all the child support he has to pay.

I disagree. They both go hand in hand but you can win in this league with decent to mediocre secondary. I haven't seen anyone win with a mediocre defensive line. Even those Giants teams. People don't remember that they weren't that great of a defense but they had a GREAT defensive line.

agree, people are quick to jump on the big name FA but then cry and complain 2 yrs down the line because theyre favorite players have not had the experience when forced to play and look bad.

What he chooses to do outside of football should not impact the decision lol (unless he was doing something illegal).

Just pointing out that he's most likely not a high character/"rkg" type. I honesty couldn't care less about his issues as long as he can actually cover people. Although, I will say that now that we are finally a winning team we do have to consider who is brought into the locker room at this point.

said on First Take he wants to do whats best for him and his Family but he mentioned he wouldn't mind playing for Dallas because he wants to retire there when his career is over.

I wouldn't t mind taking Cromartie if he had a reasonable price tag.

how many children does he have in the Dallas area?

I remember the giants having a decent secondary and a real good line. Their lbs were mud though. The secondary covered that up. I normLly rank dbs as the least important thing on the field but if you can get a solid one on the cheap, its a no brainer. Signing him doesnt prevent them from drafting line help in the first two rounds.

This gets filed under the 'who wouldn't?' Category.

I wanted him as a Cowboy since he's been in the league.

But at this point is he any good

He was absolutely horrible last year, he got toasted like crazy. Luckily for him he was in the right spot like 4-5 times, made a couple of lame interceptions that dropped right into his hands, passes that were WAY off the receiver. Just horrible throws. Go watch the tape. Demaryius Thomas dropped 300+ yards and 3 TDs on him. He's always stumbling around, falling down, blowing coverages, leaving guys wide open. His tackling is probably the worst in the NFL. If that's who you want then I'm not sure what your goal is.

No way I want this bozo on my team. Pro Bowl yeah right...

Sounds scientific.

The prorated money on Carr's contract becomes dead money if he is cut. That money hits the cap at some point with or without him on the team. Despite the dead money they get 8M of cap space in 2015 if they make him a June 1st cut.

His base salary is the only real difference. It is zero if he is cut. It's currently scheduled to be 8M if he stays.

If they cut him and replace him with a guy that has a 4M base salary then the gain 4M in cap space. It's that simple.

We don't get the June 1st cap savings until June 1st Meaning it will not help us this offaeason sign any one. Best case is to get carr to take a free like pay cut.

I don't get why people want to take Cromartie a #2 CB on a good defense that played in a 34 defense his whole career. Then have him switch to a 34.

But they want to kick Carr to the curb.

Carr was a #2 CB on a good defense that played 34. We over paid for him to a 1 in our 34 but then switched to a 43 where he didn't fit. Now we want to cut him and take a big dead money cap hit and replace him with Cromartie to add more cap space.

We need the cap space to resign our own first and then help this pass rush.
