Any chance T.O. gets an extension?

Interested to hear what you folks think. He has a 3 million $ roster bonus coming in March and a base of 4 million in 08. Compared to the 10 million he earned in 06 and the 8 million this year, 08 looks to be a bargain year for the Boys. Of course they could rework that contract and lower his cap hit. Considering TO's level of play and his importance to this O does Jerry consider an extension?

Definitely. TO should get an extension, his play has been more than good for us. I think Jerry needs to look for a very good #2 WR. Terry Glenn has question marks all over him at this point.

The way the original 81 keeps himself in shape and goes about the game, I have no doubt he could play another 2 or 3 years at a high level, he's that good!

I think Jerry will certainly wait until the season is over before he decides what further contracts he needs get signed and who gets released. The decisions will be vastly different this season because now he knows he has a QB and must ensure Romo has the tools to keep this offense going but also the tools to ensure our defense becomes stronger.

We've got several players who will be FAs after this season but also some players who will be RFA and Jerry must decide whether just to tender them for 08 season or sign them to new contracts. Given TO's play this year and his team demeanor, I do expect Jerry to give him an extension. With the season over, Jerry might also have to make a decision re Terry Glenn and whether to draft or sign a FA WR who can produce quickly.

Obviously a big decision must be made about Crayton who Romo trusts to be where he needs him to be on certain plays. I just don't want to see us pay top dollar for Crayton cause he's not the speedy WR we need and he's no Hines Ward either. Hopefully we'll see enough of Hurd/Austin/Stanbach to get a feel how good they can really be. If Glenn & Crayton don't come back, I see us signing a quality FA WR like Hacket (Seattle) of Beriam (Chicago) to replace one of them and then drafting a WR early.

We should ask Romo if he wants TO to sign on for longer..... Romo would probably want him to stay unti 2013 :D

I say give him a 3 year extension. That would be 4 years after we win this SB.

If he can match this year, stats and keeping his mouth shut, then yes.

And no thanks on Moss. We have to many players to resign and I can't see NE letting him go.

At this point, you've got to.

Keep giving this man his money. He's got a good 2-3 years of elite play left. Jerry Rice played at a high level until he was 40. TO might have that in him.

I think we will wait until all of the other moves have been done this offseason as far as resigning our FA's and RFA's. Then we will see whre we stand on the salary cap and start working on extending Owens, Newman, Colombo and a few others. But we do have one more year so we don't have to get in a rush. More than likely it will be a mid-season deal like they did with Romo (but for less money) to get both Owens and Newman extended. I just think that we won't do it until after the season starts next year and we will see how he is playing for the first few games.

count me in the majority as well

TO probably wants to come back as much as anyone else wants him to remain a Cowboy, this is the right place for him, an owner who will do anything for him at the drop of a hat, a player's coach, a great, innovative O-coordinator, a great QB who loves to talk football, just like TO, a family atmosphere, great fans, great organization

I think you are right as far as possible to do list and timeline

but there is NO WAY that Jerry opens NEW stadium without his STAR WR.

If past history is any indicator, a few more years and even more $$$ is needed to get him to come back next year. He'll want a guarantee past this season, I would expect.
