Any Chance We Trade for A WR?

The Cowboys had 356 yards passing which is 2nd for week 1. Dez only had 48 yards.

But that was against a defense that game planned having Dez on the field. And a poor defense at that, especially on the back end. Defensive coordinators now don't have to worry about Dez. The game plans will be quite different. That will make life a lot easier for them and a lot harder for the Cowboys offense going forward.

I would sign Hakeem Nicks over Aj Jenkins. I think Romo could bring that old Hakeem Nicks back if he got with him.

But let's be honest. Dez wasn't there most of the game, and the offense was good when it mattered.

I would go with what we have
Activate our other RB in dez place use Dunbar like we did last night
Work lucky in to take the top off the D and tear them up underneath with Beasley, Dunbar and Williams
If you bring in a reciever you have to cut a player
Not worth it to me just ride with what we have

Taking a shot on a 10 route to Lucky is a nice sleeper play. He def has the speed to get behind the defense.

Yes, but as we saw this team still has explosive playmakers. If we can not fall behind and we keep running the ball like we did in the first half and loosen up some of the coverages. We still have the ability to spread teams out with the likes of Dunbar. Flank Dunbar out wide, put Beasley and Escobar in the slot, and T-Will on the outside. These are guys who are really good in open space. Wide receiver and slip screens and I'd expect to see a lot of slants as well. When teams start to play tighter we'll take some shots down the field.

I think Dallas has what they need on the roster.

Isn't this why Dallas drafted athletic pass-catching TEs like Escobar and Hanna? To use them as pass-catchers?

It's going to take some creativity by the OC to work them in, but it's just a way to add a new fold to the offense.

So are you telling me they are going to Double and Triple coverage Witten now? :D

Good lord. You really don't understand the sort of impact Dez has that goes beyond the numbers.

I would re-sign AJ Jenkins. Might have to cut Bishop.

Street has to step up immediately.

Time to do what we should have done almost 20 years ago -- bring in Randy Moss.

We have to sign someone. You cant go for the next 6 weeks (minimum I think for Dez's injury) with only 4 WRs, and only 3 of them with in-season game experience (T Will, Beas, Street) and 2 of them are slot guys (Beas, Lucky). You need 5 active.

I suspect we bring back Jenkins. Too hard to get someone else up to speed on the playbook and who could immediately help (even an experienced guy like reggie wayne)

Just pop in the tape of New England. They have no name RBs and small shifty WRs. They have two TEs on the field a lot. Sounds like we have the personnel to do similar things. The problem is that they are smart and innovative and Dallas is running systems that were the rage in the 90's. Did anyone else watch New England and marvel at how well their plays were designed and how smart they were at calling them. Here is one simple example that I would love to see Dallas emulate. They had 1st and goal around the 2. They brought in their goal line offense which only had 1 WR but 2 TEs. Naturally, the defense matched them with their goaline defense. They run the ball and don't make it so what do they do? They go hurry up so the defense cannot substitute and they split their TEs out wide. This forced the defense to put a goal line LBer one on one with Gronk because they didn't have anyone else in the game to matchup with him. It was an easy TD. I don't see why we cant force teams into matchup problems like that with Escobar. We just substitute package after package allowing the defense to matchup man for man.

They also runs picks and rubs better and more often than anyone else.

I'm expecting some kind of front office move for another WR. I don't think that it will be a trade though. The name that I have in my head right now is Ryan Broyles.

yup...that was the name I couldn't remember last night. I think he might be the guy they bring in.

According to ...... Charean Williams ‏@NFLCharean 5m5 minutes ago
Cowboys will sign a WR in Dez's absence. Jason Garrett said he doesn't yet know whether it will be PS or active roster.

Who do you cut?
4 wr's with Dunbar and the other rb's all being good recievers and good quality at TE
I ride with what I got rather than cut another player to make room for a wr
