Any interest in DTs?

Has Dallas had any official visits with any DT prospects? I feel like I haven't read about a single one.

I havent' seen anything. A few DE's, but can't recall any DT's. Some thought that Mario Edwards go be used for both.

I know most names I will list are considered DEs but I will list them anyway as Dlinemen and not just DTs.

So far, off the top of my head, they have either met with at the combine, attended pro days or have scheduled visits with...

OO, Beasley, Fowler, Mario Edwards Jr, Tyeler Davison, and Danielle Hunter

I might be missing some but seems like they are mostly DEs

I thought there was something posted at one point that said the Cowboys were interested in Carl Davis. Now, if that was a visit or not, I don't know. Heck, I'm not even sure it was Davis. I could be wrong.

I left the Green Bay game thinking a pass rushing DT is our #1 priority.

It's disappointing to see the lack of interest but it's still early and hopefully we find a guy.

I think I read they talked to him at the SR Bowl.

Yep.we couldn't push the pocket and move a immobile Qb the whole game but Marinelli deemed to bring back the worst DT in football. Honestly this stand of his on the 1 tech will doom us again.

I suppose when you're flush at the position, with such All Pros and household names as Nick Hayden, Josh Brent, Ken Bishop, Davon Coleman and Terrell McClain, you can afford to turn your nose up at what the draft has to offer at DT.

It's strange because his best defenses have been with guys that kill it up the middle.

Hayden is a good guy to have on your team if injuries have completely depleted your defensive line but we are starting this guy and it's disappointing.

Hopefully Brent can return to form and Hayden out of here.

I heard the other day on the Fan that they have no interest in defensive tackle. I almost drove off a bridge when I heard that.. I'm staring at the panic button as we speak.. Our hope lies in Brent and T McClain at this point...

I'd like a better 1 tech for base downs, but for passing downs we actually have some decent depth at DT.

You've got a stud in Crawford. Hardy & Mincey both have a quickness advantage when kicked inside, and Terrell McClain when healthy has shown some pass rushing ability.

That might explain why we've only been looking at DE's. The plan looks good on paper if we draft an edge rusher.

But we play a 1-tech in the nickel too. How else can you explain Hayden getting more snaps than any other DLman?

Melton and T-McClain were walking band-aids, so someone had to take those snaps.

You're right though, there were times when all the DT's were at full health and Hayden was in on passing downs, so hopefully that changes this season with more options.

I'm guessing they like what they see from the guys we didn't have healthy last year. That or they are just keeping quiet.
