I think the PS got expanded this year.
Does anyone have that number?

10, or that was the reported number, if it happens at all. Not sure it was officially annnounced even. I just heard it would happen before game 1 if they do it at all.

I think he should be cut yesterday. Even putting him on IR still sends the wrong message to the rest of the team.

I'm not so sure why Matt Johnson is so polarizing. Granted we used a pick on him that hasn't resulted in productivity. However, he isn't costing us much against the cap, and he didn't even cost us a roster spot last year. (I'm not sure about the year before). If the guy has talent, and he gets IR'ed then why is it a big deal? If we resign him to a minimum contract he wouldn't count anything on the cap, and you get the equivalent of another red shirt year, with whatever potential he has, with no negative impact to the team other than Jerry's pocketbook. Who is really worrying about that at this point?

Johnson does not deserve a spot on the practice squad either as far as I am concerned.

Those players are supposed to, you know, be able to practice and are key parts of preparation for opponents in the regular season. They must be reliable.

Because right now he is costing someone a spot that could be a contributor.

He's polarizing because fans think he was overdrafted and then he can't get on the field. In terms of what he's cost us, it's been insignificant in the scheme of things.
I do hope he sorts out whatever's going on with the hamstrings. If it's related to his back, as Garrett suggested this week, and they can sort out the trouble with the pulls, it'd be really nice to see him actually play for a week or two here.

If it is his back, then we can use that knowledge for future players as well.

A bad message to the team would be if the player is sitting out over the smallest of injury. Not a guy that is legitimately injured and can't play.

From the sounds of it, his problems with the hamstring his rookie year were legitimate and quite severe.
